25/12/2024 18:39 | ----- Tesla are about to produce Lithium using table salt ------ Tesla has applied for a new patent that is revealing the lithium extraction process that Elon Musk vaguely described as “using table salt to basically extract lithium from ore” during Tesla's Battery Day last year. It could cut costs by more than 30%, according to the automaker.9th July 2021 I kid you not Tesla has been granted a patent for a NEW process to obtain Lithium by the use of NaCl Sodium Chloride aka table salt Tesla describes the effect of adding NaCl to the milling step of the process: The effect of adding NaCl to the milling step of the process was measured. NaCl powders and fine clay mineral particles in weight ratios of 3:97 (i.e. NaCl to total mixture (i.e. NaCl + Clay) = 3%; and corresponding to a Na:Li molar ratio of about 2.7:1) were weighed and placed into a PM100 planetary ball mill and continuously milled for up to 3 hours at 500 rpm rotation. The ball-milled NaCl/clay mixture was then collected and transferred into a glass reactor for water leaching. 31 gram of the NaCl/clay mixture was loaded into the reactor with water added to create 150 gram slurries with salt/clay mixture to water weight ratios of 1:4 (i.e. a 20 wt.% salt/clay mixture loading in water). Once the slurry is created, water leaching is performed at 90oC under 1000 RPM agitation for up to 20 minutes. A condenser is used to minimize the water loss during leaching. Following a subsequent filtration using 5 um filter paper, the leach solution was collected for further chemical composition analysis. Notice the use of the words NaCl powders Does this mean smaller sized particles ? Does the Tesla Process have an optimized size of Salt crystal at which the manufacture of Lithium is maximized ? The factory will start production within months dyor | buywell3
24/12/2024 08:25 | WARNING WARNING WARNING WARNING! Several Posters are posting negative spin on here trying to drive down the share price. In my opinion Worldwide, the largest number of diet-related deaths, an estimated 1.89 million each year, is associated with excessive sodium intake, a well-established cause of raised blood pressure and increased risk of cardiovascular diseases. The global mean sodium intake is estimated to be 4,310 mg per day (10.78 g of salt per day), which far exceeds the physiological requirement and is more than double the World Health Organization (WHO) recommendation of fewer than 2,000 mg of sodium (equivalent to less than 5 g of salt) per day in adults. | retirementfund

23/12/2024 23:51 | If you are rushed into hospital and have high blood pressure, they may put you on a saline (salt) drip "If they have hypertension (high blood pressure) due to blood sugar levels from either diet or conditions such as diabetes though, normal saline solutions are actually beneficial. A standard saline solution is created to have the same salt content as the natural salt content of the human body. The salt in the saline solution will ensure that essential electrolytes are not flushed from the blood, and the salt in the saline solution can actually prove to help lower blood sugar levels." So imagine what eating tons of sugar and carbs (which is sugar) combined with lowering your salt intake ......... You get very high blood pressure and then they fill you up everyday with blood thinners for the rest of your life They want you sick, weak, docile and dependant on them | jimarilo101

22/12/2024 13:35 | Well I disagree. As a tek holder I'm quite happy they sold subsidiaries at high prices. I hold a different view to you on their prospects and so time will tell who is right. Still, having broken my golden rule to not argue with strangers on the internet I'll get back to making some granola. Over and out. | bill216
22/12/2024 13:21 | retirementfund, I note that you're not so bold as to actually express a view (aka "forecast") other than disagreement with my own. Frankly, I think that makes you look silly, like a petulant teenager stamping your feet crying "it's not fair!" And, in time, I predict that you're going to look very silly. We have six months, at max, to wait for some accounts from SALT. Who knows, perhaps they may put out a trading update before then, confirming the year-end numbers? Feel free to make your own forecasts and tell us what great numbers that you predict. Who knows, you might learn something from the process?. JakNife | jaknife

21/12/2024 18:04 | purchaseatthetop, "I would love a Jaknife view of APTA. I put it in the same category as SALT." Apologies but I've never looked at it in detail, it's too small for me to get involved with. Just looking at its history the operating profit has been negative for the last six years, which isn't a great start. And the balance sheet looks really weak (net assets at 30 June were less than £1m and cash was less than £1m). But I see that they raised £2.8m at 0.55p in July, which should keep them going for a year. It's not one that I would look to go long or short of and the management have never grossly offended me (like SALT) that I feel the need to rant about it. JakNife | jaknife

21/12/2024 17:22 | Fully agree with your assessment JakNife - yet another AIM version of the Emperor's new clothes to be taken with a "Pacific Flourish" full load capacity of salt ! | multibagger
21/12/2024 16:22 | Bill216, I find TEK Capital's IPO of MicroSalt materially offensive. They (TEK and SALT acting in concert) have massively over-exaggerated shareholder expectations for their own financial gain. It's because of companies like TEK, and the way that it brought SALT to market, that AIM is in decline. You have a different view, of course, but that's simply because you've been lead down the garden path and have chosen to listen to the siren calls of management/TEK. TEK have done exactly the same with their other businesses - Lucyd, Belluscura and GenIP and will almost certainly try to do exactly the same with Guident. At the end of this there will be a long queue of shareholders whinging about having lost money but, quite simply, it will be too late for them! JakNife | jaknife |
