10/6/2009 10:09 | A 10k buy, a tick up and what sounds like excellent contract news: "Microgen Delivers Interface To LMEsmart 09/06/09 Microgen today announced delivery of its interface to LMEsmart (System for Matching and Registering Trades) alongside a major upgrade to Cortex CMII, its multi-company back office system for trading London Metal Exchange (LME) products. Cortex CMII provides major functional enhancements to allow efficient operation with the new matching system. To handle the mandatory move to LMEsmart and to futureproof the system for further new interfaces (such as to LMEselect and to LMEsword II), Microgen has created an independent engine which handles the FIX protocol communication and message formats while business processing is encapsulated within the core Cortex CMII system. By separating the connectivity from the SMART business processing, the engine can be easily extended to support other FIX based interfaces as they are developed. The comprehensive integrated system is aimed at LME Cat 1 and Cat 2 members, including existing Microgen customers and new prospects. LME members connecting to the Exchange will be required to interface to LMEsmart when it goes live, replacing functions in the existing MCS system run by the London Clearing House, which will then solely be responsible for clearing. Tom Crawford, Managing Director, Financial Systems Division, Microgen, said: "The changes to trading on the London Metal Exchange will drive increased efficiency and support market growth, but members need to ensure their systems meet the mandatory LMEsmart criteria. Cortex CMII not only delivers the solution to enable the switch to LMEsmart but the use of the independent FIX engine provides an extensible platform from which to support a range of similar FIX based interfaces such as LMEselect, the forthcoming LMEsword II and others as they are implemented."" | rivaldo
02/6/2009 08:45 | Nellie, we've had the AGM statement, and last year's H1 results were 17th July, so not too long to wait - only a month or so till the results. Meanwhile, MCGN are recruiting to meet the growth in regulatory requirements: "Source: Microgen, 27 May 2009 Microgen today announced the appointment of Jim Devern as managing practitioner. Devern will be responsible for the solution and architectural design of financial transformation programmes using Microgen Accounting Hub (MAH) for major global retail banking and lending institutions. Microgen Accounting Hub is the market leading accounting engine, subledger and financial data warehouse developed using the group's Business Process Platform (BPP), Microgen Aptitude. Devern has extensive experience in creating integrated performance management and accounting solutions for global and complex financial institutions. He previously held senior roles at SAP UK, Oracle Europe, and Sovereign Bank in Philadelphia, USA. With 20 years industry knowledge and experience encompassing finance, risk, and core banking solutions, Devern left his role as Financial Services Presales Manager at SAP to join Microgen. Prior to this he spent six years at Oracle where amongst other disciplines, he was responsible for business development and project delivery. Jim Devern, managing practitioner, Microgen, said: "2008 was a historic year for the financial services industry. One immediate lesson I have taken is that banks require finance and risk solutions that bring a higher degree of data transparency. At the same time such solutions must be robust, flexible and cost effective. Microgen brings the right blend of expertise, product design and agility to the market." US-born Jim began his career at Sovereign Bank in Philadelphia where he gained exposure to banking practices such as interest risk, liquidity, balance and pricing management. It is with this knowledge and his skills gained working on large scale bank finance transformation programmes that Devern can help Microgen's customers to create world leading designs for their finance solutions, and enable them to cost-effectively meet the demands placed on them in today's challenging economic climate. "As market conditions, regulatory and management reporting requirements are rapidly evolviing in the recovery cycle, I believe that Microgen is well positioned to deliver to banks in a fast and extendible fashion," continued Devern. Microgen Chief Operating Officer, David Sherriff, said: "There is a fast growing appetite for a single, fully integrated BPP platform as businesses everywhere are streamlining their operations to achieve a single and clear view of their financial position. With Jim's know-how in creating integrated performance management and accounting solutions for financial institutions, he is more than up to the challenge of delivering the best possible solution to our customers."" | rivaldo
29/5/2009 16:49 | Shame it was not released, when is our next prominent date? | nellie1973
20/5/2009 14:41 | Faster than a speeding bullet AISHAH - much appreciated! Sounds like a contract win which could have gone out as an RNSNON - the client is impressive enough. | rivaldo
20/5/2009 14:14 | 'Microgen powers Ntl:Telewest's billing portal' May 20, 2009 (DMEUROPE via COMTEX) -- UK business communications provider Ntl:Telewest Business has launched an online Billing Portal that integrates all voice and data charges. The secure portal enable customers to access billing information digitally and carry out detailed analysis based on the services they use and their office locations. It enhances the paper and disk bill offerings currently available to customers by making invoices more accessible. The portal is built on Microgen's flagship product, Microgen Aptitude, a business process platform, equipping business customers with an agile online environment. | aishah
20/5/2009 14:11 | This sounds impressive, but I can't access the full article: "Microgen powers Ntl:Telewest's billing portal 20 May 2009 08:07 AM CET | United Kingdom UK business communications provider Ntl:Telewest Business has launched an online Billing Portal that integrates all voice and data charges. 18/5/2009 14:13 | Techinvest's May'09 issue is now online, and they have a nice update on MCGN: "Microgen 56p (MCGN; Tech Software & Services) The Company expects results for the three months ended March 31 to be in line with expectations. Management report no significant changes in the trading or financial position of the Company which ended the period with £16.3m of cash (18.7p per share). During the quarter, Microgen's Aptitude Solutions Division had a "significant win" with a major European customer for Microgen Accounting Hub and Microgen Aptitude. And, despite the Billing Services and Financial Systems Divisions seeing the effects of the economic downturn, management say the Group is on track for the full year. Microgen still looks cheap at these levels. Buy." | rivaldo
07/5/2009 14:14 | Not got much internet access on holiday, so a bit short on info - I assume this is just a re-rating to a more sensible valuation. | rivaldo
06/5/2009 00:08 | Sorry post deleted!!! | nellie1973
05/5/2009 21:06 | Micro Gen Systems in not Microgen - different company. | joshalexander
05/5/2009 20:34 | Starting to move now, perhaps this is getting a bit more noticed. | cfro
05/5/2009 20:11 | Didnt know they did battery stuff. Clip from newspaper...... 04/05/09 "Another company that has its origins at UVM, Micro-Gen Systems, displayed a promising technology to address a vexing problem of battery life in wireless sensing devices. Its uses are practically endless." Imagine the effect on sales!!! | nellie1973
30/4/2009 16:26 | What about the other 600k,that didn't shift the price either.Bodes well. | kingyon1
30/4/2009 15:19 | Well, there's the explanation - an ex-director's wife who got shares after their company was taken over has got rid. More to the point, 600,000 shares have been snapped up by someone, presumably an institution, at 54p without a hint of trouble. Has to be extremely comforting news. | rivaldo
30/4/2009 14:22 | Interesting comment yesterday from Robbie Frequenttrader: "My bid target favourite from the last seminar Microgen is quietly but surely heading back upwards. It's the quiet little risers than often end up producing the best profits. Market makers seem reluctant to sell stock too which is always good news." EDIT - and over 1.2m shares traded today, including a 600k and a 604k. Something happening? | rivaldo
29/4/2009 23:21 | rivaldo, Thanks for your reply, I am looking forward to future developements with interest. | coincall
29/4/2009 23:02 | Coincall, I'm being conservative in referring to MCGN having £14m of cash net of borrowings, but in reality MCGN do have £16.3m of cash, since the small borrowings are presumably secured against the £6m of property. That £16.3m of cash plays a £47m m/cap (the ADVFN figure in the header is still wrong). | rivaldo
29/4/2009 16:52 | On track in an economic climate such as this is good. MCGN is still very cheap and undervalued despite recent rises. Solid company I will continue to hold and would buy more if I had the cash!!! | nellie1973
29/4/2009 01:16 | rivaldo, It appears the company has £16.3m net cash as of end Q1, or are you referring to the net funds of £13.8m below? "The Group's financial results for the three months ended 31 March 2009 are in line with the Board's expectations. There have been no significant changes in the trading or financial position of Microgen and its balance sheet remains strong. Microgen closed the quarter with £16.3 million of cash (31 December 2008: £14.7 million) and net funds of £13.8 million (31 December 2008: £11.0 million), after the repayment of £1.2 million of the mortgage on the freehold property. | coincall
28/4/2009 09:17 | Ticking up again on a mere 3k of buys today (including PLUS). The breakout is looking good. | rivaldo
28/4/2009 07:36 | FYI from Hoodless Brennan last Friday - complete rubbish apart from the Buy verdict! The 2008 results came out months ago. And it doesn't even mention the £14m of net cash. Apart from that it's brilliant :o)) "Microgen (MCGN, 51.5p £44.7m) Company has reported on the first 4 months of the 2009 year, though we are still awaiting the release of the Dec 2008 numbers. The company reports it remains on track despite the difficult market conditions, primarily due to a new contract for its accounting hub software and high levels of repeat revenues. Pre-tax profits to December 2008 are forecast at £6.25m, 4.96p EPS and 2.2p DPS with December 2009 pre-tax of £7.1m, EPS 5.63p and DPS 2.3p. Shares are thus sitting on 9.2 times to Decmebr 2009 and represent solid value. Buy." | rivaldo
27/4/2009 20:08 | Ta cfro. Good to see such little stock around :o)) It may be that the Directors have acquisition targets in mind for the £14m cash pile. If so that should act as another stimulus for the share price. A slow and steady appreciation towards fair value of say 70p-80p, i.e another 25%-40%, will hopefully continue anyway. Or perhaps the press speculation about being taken private has some truth in it. | rivaldo
27/4/2009 19:06 | Great to see this moving nicely.. Bought in a while back pre 50p.. good solid company ripe for bid/takeover IMO & shares very hard to come by... | stockadoodle
27/4/2009 19:00 | I must say Rivaldo....this looks like some find. I tried to buy a few earlier today and could only get a small amount @57p. Had to prise them away from the MM's hands, and they werent too keen on dealing even then ! I reckon these are well in demand. | cfro
27/4/2009 18:54 | Very nice indeed - new highs! 19k shares bought in quick succession this afternoon in 4k and 5k lots. | rivaldo |
