1.6m shares traded today plus more on PLUS, including two 500k's (rollover/transfer?). Good to see the volumes anyway - indicates some interest. And who can blame them :o))

I like the high level of recurring income too - and this doesn't even mention the £18m of cash:

FTSE Fledgling 3,826 0.00%
techMARK 1,425 +1.00%
techMARK 100 1,575 +0.65%
Software & Computer Services 463 +1.23%

LONDON (SHARECAST) - Microgen's full year operating performance came in slightly ahead of market expectations as the software firm said it seeks opportunities to develop the group, including through mergers and acquisitions.

Adjusted operating margin remains strong at 17.9%, ahead of its stated target. Pre-tax profit for the year came in at £4.2m from a loss of £10m last year on revenue that increased to £33.3m from £32.7m previously.

Three of the Group's four operating divisions reported organic revenue growth in the range of 5% to 14%.

The group said it has made progress in 2007, which provides a good platform for the year ahead.

"The board continues to explore strategic opportunities for the further development of Microgen, including mergers and acquisitions, that could enhance the group's offerings and customer base," it added.

Total dividend was hiked to 2.0p per share against 1.5p last year."

No wonder the directors were buying....

Terrific results out today - 4.5p historic EPS, and look at that £18m cash pile against a £41m m/cap. Plus a 5% divi...

The price could go 50% from here imho and still be undervalued:

"Strong balance sheet with cash of £18.1 million (2006 : £15.3 million)

• Fully diluted earnings per share 2.5p (2006 : loss per share 10.3p).
Adjusted diluted earnings per share 4.5p (2006 : 3.0p)

• Proposed dividend increase of 33% with final dividend of 1.4p per share
making a total of 2.0p for the year (2006: 1.5p) reflecting the confidence
of the Board"

MCGN have held up well Rivaldo. But the slow pull of gravity gradually draws them towards the realms of irresistability! ;0)

As for DYS - thanks for your good wishes. I think we still need it. Market playing silly games.

Well Garth, Jan's certainly been inteersting for DYS as you said :o)) You got movement both ways though...hope it keeps going up for you.

MCGN has (or will have) 18.5p per share of cash and is forecast to have a historic 4.36p EPS, with loads of recent director buying, some at higher than the current price. I suppose over recent weeks MCGN has actually performed pretty well given the markets, but I'd hope the share price will make progress soon.

The catalyst could be either or both of the upcoming results or further acquisitions with that £15m of net cash.

Back to 60p soon with any luck.

Rivaldo,

Dyson flatline? That would have been nice! ;0)

Keep watching them Jan/Feb - I reckon we'll see further movement one way or another....

Yep, another 175,000 shares or around £85,000 of director buying. That's £170,000 of buying since the trading statement....should be enough to convince anyone watching.

Cue Garth :o)) Free up some of those DYS Garth and buy in here and in CAR! DYS looks like it'll continue to flatline for a while imo till there's more convincing news (as always!). VLK does also look a silly price as you say.

Ta for the update CWA1. With 17p per share of cash and another 1.5p's worth on its way the share price remains way too low imo.

The lower EPS figure of the two making up the consensus is from Investec, who have always been too low/cautious when I've come across them. Still, I suppose they're not that far off Arbuthnot's 4.73p EPS for 2008 (the 2007 forecasts are almost exactly the same EPS-wise).

Moving nicely now - plenty of room for more. Maybe a quick return to 60p given 4.71p EPS plus almost half the m/cap in cash and more to come?

I was interested to see this on the MCGN website - their involvement in Smart Meters is news to me and should be a big winner. Possibly in the relative short-term too - these things will be coming in pretty soon I think given the obvious benefits:

"July 23, 2007
SMART Metering-Requires SMART Technology
By Gary M. Vasey, Ph.D.
Vice President, Europe

The potential benefits of smart metering and smart grids are now quite well known and enunciated but the technical issues surrounding deployment of the technology remain. Pilot roll-outs and even full scale roll-outs are underway (example ENEL in Italy rolling out 30 million smart meters). Part of technical challenge lies in the collection, validation and transformation of data from millions of meters so that the benefits can actually be extracted from such an investment. UK-based Microgen is one company poised to benefit from helping to solve these issues with its Aptitude software product."

"Microgen is proactive in the UK's smart metering scene and has already developed a range of demonstrations and proof of concepts in the Smart metering area which UtiliPoint has seen. Given the scale of interest backed by Government pressure in the UK, Microgen is also experiencing "unprecedented" interest in Aptitude as a potential solution for these technical issues."
