I wouldn't get too excited
It's first off, a trade to low 40s...and needs to smash out on first attempt day to hold

A very aggressive trade

Investors have no right to buy pre low 40s support

After all, investors need reason to buy if for the medium term minimum

So they haven't got a genuine reason yet

In fact, dont know why they would even be bothered looking here with all the issues

Its like an AIM stock though so I'm half punting on a bent share price move

We are in Ontario and have picked a few of these low valued banking stocks. We hold here at an average price of 31.6p and we are currently mopping up some VANQ.

1.79% profit on closing price! I have a normal limit of not more than 5% of my portfolio in one stock and MTRO is currently 22% as I've sold other stocks to buy at lower levels. I will need to reduce this exposure if, as I hope, the share price continues to rise.

Well I suppose if you starting buying in Oct 23 at 45p and continued buying to the low of 28p, there is a slim mathematical chance that you might be profit today at 33.5p

It's nice to wake up today, and after buying all the way down, and see I am now in profit on MTRO! Only just but a profit is a profit. My 12 month target is 70p-100p once the cost reduction programme has been fully implemented.

a lot of the beaten up small and mid caps (including larger companies like Alstom in France) have started to bounce. Probably huge short positions across such companies so covering starting as well as nibbling

This looks like a good turnaround story now. They're taking action on costs and seem to have a sensible plan, interest rates are staying up for the foreseeable; banks make money when interest rates are not on the floor. The larger banks are creating opportunity and differentiation for Metro by closing their branch networks. There's immediate management oversight now that Gilinski is on the board as an 'owner manager'. Current share price is increasingly recognised as a fraction of the business's value; my guess is that it's only a matter of time before that translates into a rise in the share price and maybe even a bid for the business as the sector continues to consolidate.
