For all those wishful thinkers, a takeover was and is definitely not on the table now. Fire fighting firstly, better value also on a distressed sale / breakup. But unfortunately it may never get there if a run on the bank occurs. Possibility now, high imo.

Please DYOR.

I don’t even believe they have the staff in place to cope with what they’re about to be faced.

I’m not even sure there’s an entry point for me on metro or any other U.K. bank at this moment in time. I thought Lloyd’s maybe cheap for a punt at 20p but I’m reassessing this when considering the level of default rates they maybe faced with.

Another income stream given up by Metro. That's on top of stopping tracker mortgages.
Metro is a dead man walking!

Just dropped in. Doing well guys with the analysis, some very pertinent points last night.

If realistically looking at the UK and USAs preparation for this virus I truly believe that when reviewed later there will be significant condemnation. Everyone appears so ill prepared and clearly death rates are going to rise beyond what we’re seeing in both Italy and Spain.

As for the economies, we are going to lose 12% of U.K. businesses on day one, that’s a fact. Zombies were running at 8% before this and there is no way they come out of this. In turn the amount of work required at the start in respect of bookkeeping to even get to a stage to obtain some form of bridging loan is beyond the capabilities of many SMEs and their Accountants will not have the ability as a result of resource to put together realistic cash flow forecasts not to mention profit and loss projections until a significant time later. Whether government guaranteed, or not, serviceability will always be a key consideration. You saw from last week with personal guarantees being requested that the principles of banking don’t change.

The U.K. economic landscape will change significantly from here. I’m not sure the stock market is even worth considering for at least 6months, as imo, we’re way away from the bottom.

Please DYOR but for me the U.K. looks fkd.

Haven't used that one. Does it ever go up more than spot? Is it adjusted for currency too in the price? Not read that etf description

My Gold ETF took a hammering today also, down almost 2%. But spot gold didn't drop that much. Can you explain that? I hold Wisdom Tree Physical Gold ETFS

DOW quite interesting today... you could see it being propped up right into the signing of the bill by trump. Then mass dumping in last 10 minutes. No more ammunition left now. And American will become a disaster zone for months. Monday will be circuit breaker day...

No takeover. No joint venture. Can't see any sense for other parties in that

No bank rescue. Ire not worth saving. Enough problems coming with majors

Basically it's the walking dead
