even if the pbt falls to only £5m, we're at only 6x earnings, this is surely one of those "irrational" times....

It's a TSCO thing, rubbish summer for the UK retail scene.

Thing is, MPH's sales for this summer were made early in the year! The order book for NEXT summer is closing in two weeks. MPH is not really a retailer... but I don't think Mr Market has appreciated that yet :0).

Shareholders will have to remain patient and wait for the interims, to see whether or not we're on track for that 19.8p EPS figure for the year. Bear in mind that if profits are significantly off, they'll have to issue a profit warning. No sign of that so far.

If earnings keep ticking up, eventually the share price will follow.

When it bounces stand well clear as the blast will knock yer socks off so to speak. Off Christmas shopping on the strength of that coming bounce so I hope that I have got it right with results next month. Sleeping sound with no worries here, and trying to stay solvent, keep smiling all ....lol..............................wbj

Taffe 'The market can stay irrational longer than you can stay solvent' very good my friend.

It may be quiet in here but perhaps that's just because there's nothing new to say right now. I remain happy to hold, with no reason to believe that the current year EPS forecast of 19.8p will not be met. That will put them on a P/E of 5.8, with plenty of prospective growth to come, as all the recently announced deals start to bring in new revenue streams in the years to come.

I think I'll go back to sleep now until the interims, expected in November. Could someone draw the curtains, as well as turning out the lights please?

Cheers,

Mark

Alexon down 25 after there interim results yesterday, another retailer finding it hard going in the UK, that's where Marchpole's strength is in the diversification of its products in a global market that it has now achieved, very cheap although they may slide more until numbers and trading outside the UK are known. Holding and adding........................happy days ahead wbj
PS Looks like Alexon will be selling its menswear chain (Envy for between 15 and 20 million with 50 outlets) soon, will Marchpole be looking to move in???

just back from china, the inflight entertainment had paris fashion week, only showed summer 08 for Mcqueen and Ungaro, it seems MPH is doing better in asia than the market might think.

I used to hold this stock at this level but sold out a few months ago. It looks like the price is looking attractive once again so we should see some shares being picked up below the 120p level. It may use the 100p mark as a spring board to new heigts but I cant see it sitting there for long

John Lewis suits for Ungaro looked very good as did the Boatengcollection . Selection of shirt/ties from Ungaro but no casual wear on display so far. Hardly any YSL on sale now so room for mph to move ungaro in time. Had a look in Topshop and saw some great shoes from MPH, made in Brazil ranging from £50 to £70 pounds and they looked great quality. Have a good weekend all, we are around 35% off the high now so surely time to pull back and remember the perfume royalties kick in soon.......................wbj
