Far, it would be the wrong interpretation of results to view eps of 15p.

All looks good to me. If on a very strict interpretation of these results eps should perhaps be viewed as a more modest 15p, MM & Co must surely be pretty confident in the future to actually claim an eps of 23p.

Not impressed with their results. If you look at the underlying results for the second half. Turnover doubled, yet profits fell from 3.1M to 2.7M. I'll be interested to see what caused this. Could it be due to the lucrative Yves Saint Laurent contract which ended on 31/12/06.

Rivaldo,

Even though there has been a bit of "creative accounting" here, the results are still good and the work that MM and his team have done in diverisfying the business seems little short of miraculous to me.

Even with the loss of YSL, I'd be surprised and disappointed to see a drop in EPS this year. Consider wbj's observation yesterday, concerning the replacement of YSL merchandise with Ungaro in John Lewis. As well as that, we have all the new product lines, licence agreements and distribution agreements AND Greenmark's contribution.

Given those factors, even if we take a tough view on the accounts and ascribe an EPS of 15p, the shares still look good value to me. I'm annoyed with myself that I forget to make the effort of trying to arrange to get to the analyst presentation.

To get at the truth behind the EPS, free cashflow is one of the best indicators, IMO and that's certainly excellent.

I think you may have been a little hasty in your sale - but you could always buy some back at the lower price now being quoted :0).

Cheers,

Mark

Sensei, this has been taken in the P&L and the intangibles are shown in the balance sheet as well. See the P&L line after "administration expenses".

I still think MPH is cracking value at the current price but, as usual, they are being somewhat opaque ;0). The opacity may lift a) once the AR is released in August (there should be rather more detail in there, especially segmantal breakdown and, I hope, more on Greenmark's contribution); b) after some questions have been asked at the AGM; c) once we get to see the interims. There is only a couple of months conribution from Greenmark in these figures.

It'll be intersting to see how the share price behaves once the analyst briefing this morning is over. I also look forward to Hardman's revised forecast.

Incomprehensible to me why anyone would be selling on these numbers at the prices currently being quoted. If the price drops much further, I'll be buying.

Cheers,

Mark

Afraid I sold first thing for the very reason outlined by marben100 - it's an artificial profit uplift by whatever name, and with YSL disappearing there's just a bit of uncertainty despite the promise of news etc. Best to take profits - especially in ISAs! It's been a great ride and good luck to all here.

If there's a consistency of opinion, you can bet your bottom dollar that the MM's will automatically do the opposite. I think that in that situation, within 10% +/-, the MM's will make any price they like and fundamentals are ignored. When the fun and games are finished, then we can hope.
