10/5/2007 10:01 | Major O/T - Please - If you all Google the name 'Madeleine McCann' and pull up a Picture and News Item of that poor young girl who has been kidnapped in Portugal. Attach it to an E-mail and send it to everyone in your inbox (takes seconds). Attach a note asking all those you send it to, to forward it to everyone in their inbox. Exponentially this will get some serious cover. Anything we can do to help trace Madeliene will help. Thanks!! Sorry to be a pain but I have posted this on other boards too! END | kneath

09/5/2007 10:05 | Soaked up 35,534 in sells so far, in fact! Also MM managed to get Moda for far less than the initially quoted price! | dan de lion
09/5/2007 10:02 | Few sales this morning and mm happy to pay over the odds, I recon there could be a buyer in the background, Soon see if bid moves up. Remy it my experience that posters in general will decide themselves to buy or sell irrespective of the input from this thread, you only have to see the number of posters no longer around despite my continued hold and add postings from 56p to £1.90 Must admit to Greenmark selling for 3 million on earnings of 2.6 million although they did take all the assets out of the business first, still a cracking purchase by Michael. The other point that would have affected the price is that the supplier of Greenmark was from one source in Brasil and that presents a high risk factor if relations soured especially as there was no formal contract in place. Cracking company with huge growth potential imv and as always holding firm awaiting next move up.................. | wbjunior
09/5/2007 09:15 | wavering No raw nerve has been touched. I was just trying to answer, in an abridged way, your post 1097. The decision to invest is yours and yours alone, do not feel pressure either way. Spend a day reading the previous 1000 posts and then the other posts on earlier boards and you will get a feel for the company ( you will also get a feel for the posters, which may allow you to sort the wheat from the chaff ). Good luck to you whatever your decision, after all we are all in this for the same reason whether we are bullish or bearish. remynapoleon | remynapoleon
09/5/2007 08:26 | Wavering Don't take it to heart. Much of what you say has some merit especially regards p/e's.Take on board some of the more balanced views from the likes of momentos and then decide whether today's price warrants a purchase.I've been in since the year dot and also traded them several times although not always for a profit. It's certainly not a sleepy stock! | argy2
09/5/2007 00:40 | wavering, As with o/t company easy to lose focus of everything going on at MPH and just how far they have come. MPH has been highlighted as cheap and trading at a discount to its peers.Featured breakout charts. Recovery, growth and income stock. I would not bet against further news and earnings enhancing deals. Results expected late next month when all pieces of jigsaw coming together.May not be your cup of tea.fwiw imo good value initial target price 250p.Watch this space as they say.aimvho.dyor. free stock charts from www.advfn.com | lex1000
09/5/2007 00:33 | wavering, >>>momentos - 21 Feb'07 - 08:14 - 538 of 1106 My "Fag Packet" calculations was Net Asset 31/12/05 7.2m. + Retained profit 2006 2.5m less 30% tax = 1.75m NAV at 31/12/06 8.95m Taken out by share buyback. The "going concern" bit they have paid 3m for. If pbt remains at 2.5m pa Marchpole gets its investment back in 18 months. Even if Profit before tax drops to 2m Marchpole gets its money back in just over 2 years. Even if it drops to 1.5m pbt it only takes 5 years. That is a hell of a good deal for a 20-year established going concern. .................... >>dan de lion - 3 May'07 - 09:46 - 1063 of 1108 Update by Shore Capital:- .................... Shore Capital 30-04-07 CORP 8.20 20.10 5.00 9.00 22.10 5.60 So a forward p/e ratio of just 15 should put us on £3.31. >>dan de lion - 4 May'07 - 17:11 - 1092 of 1108 Don`t forget this for next year :- "A unique perfume for women, le Doudou, was launched in 2001 and is currently sold in 52 countries with an annual Euro 30 million turnover. A men's fragrance is to be launched in the near future. From 2008, the perfume business will generate a royalty income for JCC S.A. of 4% on sales upto Euro 50 million per annum and 3% on sales above Euro 50 million per annum." 09/5/2007 00:18 | wavering, tried to find post by Momentos on Greenmark Ltd.,however, have been unable to find it where thought in selected posts.Think you'll find Michael Morris (whether you like him or not)is a great deal maker in Marchpole's favour and reasons why Greenmark would sell to MPH.Will post as and when found. edit: here's some but not the one >momentos - 19 Feb'07 - 10:14 - 444 of 1106 I keep looking at the deal details and I cant help thinking waht a stonking deal it is. We have worked out the business was valued at about 12m prior to the cash extraction via share buyback. THis gave a PER of about 6 based on arter tax earnings of 2m. But of that 12m AT LEAST 7m was probably CASH!! The previous owners left years of profit in the business rather than taking it out through divis. So Marchpole have got a business producing 2m annual profit for about 5m all in!! >>momentos - 20 Feb'07 - 16:12 - 513 of 1106 BTW Hardman did comment in their Feb Update also: We have been waiting for Marchpole to announce an acquisition that will fill the gap left by YSL and the company has now done so, announcing a conditional agreement to acquire Greenmark Limited, a Hertfordshire based designer, wholesaler and distributor of ladies footwear. Greenmark made a profit of £3.2m on turnover of £24.1m in the year to 31 December 2005. With total consideration due of £3.0m payable - £1.0m in cash, £1.0m in unsecured bank guaranteed loan notes, and a £1.0m unsecured convertible loan the deal appears to have been done on attractive terms. Approval of the deal by Marchpole's shareholders is to be sought at an EGM in early March. We view this as a positive move for Marchpole,in that the acquisition of Greenmark should more than fill the gap left by YSL. | lex1000
09/5/2007 00:07 | I seem to have touched the odd raw nerve here so sorry folks. The problem with all investments is that you can always make a case for and a case against. There are obviously risks here but that is why it is on a P/E of 10 rather than 20. So, my guess is that holders will do well but ... I think the one thing that will stop me investing is the following: Step 1. Greenmark which makes £3M pa is sold to MPH for £3M Step 2. MPH adds £21M (10 X £2.1M aftertax) to its own value as a result of this purchase This gives me a sense of unease - it looks too much like smoke and mirrors. Either the man who sold it for £3M is a mug or I am for buying it for £21M (or, to be more precise, for buying a percentage of it at that valuation). Synergy blah blah goes so far but it does not turn £3M into £21M. I am making a serious point here so serious answers please. | wavering
