Tumbling Marchpole considers going private

Financial Times, Nov 20, 2007

The deputy chairman and largest shareholder in Marchpole said investors in the fashion company were "out of their brains" and he would consider taking it private after its shares fell by more than a third.

The loss of a contract to distribute Yves Saint Laurent clothing caused turn- over in the six months to September 30 to fall from £38.6m to £29.9m. Pre-tax profit dropped from £4m to £453,000.

Can't see anybody making a hostile bid for MPH. However, Morris might be happy to see a large relatively silent investor, who has faith in his abilities, taking a meaningful stake in the Company via a placing.

MMs agreement to shake the share price and control the price rising further today, it seems they succeed on the action.

will see what happen tomorrow, but expect media comment on today's rise

Those touting a takeover should be aware that Morris (and other insiders) currently own sufficient shares (25%) to prevent a forced takeover. Obviously if someone got to 50% Morris position would be very difficult.

However, that does not mean that someone else, or Morris himself may be considering buyout.

Pleased to see the bounce for the pained long term holders.

boetang.....its the strange settlement of the dispute costing boetang £1 million plus costs......we could see a settlement but not like this...why would he bother unless he wanted to clear the decks?

re -MMs shake earlier

it looks that way

There was a large buy 100K when share price was 21 / 21.50p at 13.55pm. a few minutes later all MMs marked the price down to originate the shake and get some stock ( if sellers fall for the game)to cover the large buy, well so far are not succeding, any more buys they will have to move the price up again.

from Plus market trades...
