24/1/2003 15:06 | RECYCLING LEGISLATION WEEEE electrical Directive will provide recycling regulations for UK to be implemented early 2004 and includes many domestic electrical goods. A new Batteries and Accumulator Directive will be pursued by the the EU during 2003 and implemented 2004/2005. To make this work in terms of high returns for recyling, a few countries are already offering deposits for consumer batteries and this is being closely analysed in the UK. As 15 billion batteries are thrown away each year this could be an opportunity for Mercury Recycling to diversify into recycling batteries and extracting the metals. It is about time MRG stated what its intentions are for diversifying as there appear to be long term opportunities. | mr.ethical

05/11/2002 17:53 | Why should the MM's move this share up over the last 2 days before any trades (until the 20k later on today)? Anyone got any theories? Could it be the possiblity of increasing landfill taxes that makes MRG a good prospect? Or is there good news brewing and MM's are short on stock and need to shake out some sellers? I've been holding 15k for about 6 months. | guy martin
