If you are investing 10k at all time highs, then you have really not understood investing. Or have the time and funds to add further and compound. Either way, look at the historic trend of this fund. I don't know what you want from the trust? It is fairly cyclical and pays a dividend. Invest in growth if you want, but most people will have a balance of the two. 3 years return then. At 339p you could have bought just under 3000 shares for your money, and be sitting on about £5780 profit. Then add the dividends into that, payouts and compounding and you are looking at a great yield and profit. It is about timing a big investment like that. You know that, you just like trying to wind people up. This wasn't a hypothetical.

Now my extreme target of 3 pound here is based on dividend cuts .
My opinion is companies will be slashing their dividend across the board . If they don't it will come out of your capital anyway .
Now GSK I personally wouldn't touch with a barge pole ? However if you read their results everything is sweet!
My question on it is . Why hasn't the share price mirrored this Utopia they are in ?
The other issue for me as I have mentioned many times before. This constant monthly drip of issuing shares .
This is not being used to finance the dividend is it ?

Interesting to see you back on here once MRCH and the market falls. You were quiet in the first quarters. You were very vocal and bearish on this for the last year where you predicted 300p too, that didn't happen. What you are predicting is a 2000 points drop of the ftse 100 or a market crash. But Geopolitics are hard to call. Given market conditions of the last year most would have predicted a crash, but not yet. And MRCH has held up well. And if you had have sold because of a fear it was dropping to that point, you have lost out on the dividend and the all time high too which was the selling point of this cycle.Though if you are confident you could short it and sell once it gets to 300p?

Being an old cynic , I still think this constant issuing of shares is to pay the dividend, somehow via accountants trickery by the back door.
We shall see.
But I stick with my end of 2024 prediction of MRCH about £3 pound ish .
You see all these high yielders will become value traps .
China , insane debt levels and the idiocy of the Left wing extremists of the EU and the US are going to leave everything as ..

Your theory only works if dividend is never cut.
Please don't bother with Mrch have paid an increasing dividend for 30 odd years . I refer you all to Shell on that one .

Direct Line noted that 2022 saw the highest weather event costs since the company's listing, with GBP149 million in claims, well above the company's budget assumption of GBP73 million. The company said prolonged periods of sub-zero temperatures in Scotland and North West England accounted for GBP95 million of these claims.

No final dividend was declared by the company, resulting in a total dividend of 7.6 pence per share in 2022, down 67% from 22.7p per share a year ago.

If MRCH owned Direct Line, one share wouldn't change the dividend
