30/1/2019 17:45 | Yes 15% chance appears to be consensus.I don’t think we’ll end up with No Deal,if for no other reason than the EU won’t want to suffer collateral damage,Ireland in particular.Mad dogs and Englishman and all that, some Brexiteers are clearly looking forward to a ration of spam and digging up the lawn to sow potatoes but it’s not everyone’s cup of tea which could also be in short supply. No,I think some sort of legal rewording will be made, smoke and mirrors,to stop Boris,Egg Nog and the rest of the Bash Street Gang dragging the needy over the edge.Afterall, wouldn | steeplejack
30/1/2019 17:22 | Lots of posturing in Brussels. Juncker, Barnier and Tusk May be marginalised by individual members as No Deal is becoming more likely. | brexitplus
30/1/2019 17:15 | Minerve, The 3 chickens and 1 hen suffer a bit from the cold in this weather. On these cold nights we place small drums of hot water below the perch to provide some respite. The particular drum used is based on an original FKI design, now off patent. You may recall that Melrose took over FKI around 10 years ago, making very good returns for Melrose shareholders when the businesses were sold. In 2018, they took over the clapped out GKN. Is this the sort of Melrose comment you are looking for? | meanwhile
30/1/2019 17:14 | Maybe that is your preference, being unmarried. Hmmm. Any news on the DNA test. After all, you may not be leaving a legacy after all. | brexitplus
30/1/2019 17:03 | Re the last press released I posted about Pratt & Whitney, I particularly liked “GKN Fokker competed globally and was selected as the best value supplier of these engine components, and will play a valuable role in our global supply chain for the F135 engine, as we continue to reduce the cost of the propulsion system.” | brexitplus
30/1/2019 16:29 | MEANWHILE - "I wholeheartedly, and without reservation, welcome the publication of these articles on this site." And so do I. Have thanked B+ in the past for posting these news items. Yes one could do it oneself but time is critical to me (Especially now as I am helping Mrs. Losos recover from a hip replacement operation)so it is far better for me to read it on this board than trawl through loads of RNS's and other stuff on the web. Keep it up B+ BTW I think it shows that GKN Fokker have some pretty good technology, the yanks don't often hand out critical contracts to non US companies. | losos
30/1/2019 16:18 | Useful information indeed but might it not have been presented in rhyming couplets? | steeplejack
30/1/2019 16:17 | How about the 3 chicken + 1 hen farmer? Anything to add? | minerve
30/1/2019 16:17 | Still waiting. | minerve
30/1/2019 16:17 | I have to say, it beats lunch talk but chimps can easily find this information for themselves. Expert use of cut & paste there StillBirthPlus. It doesn't qualify for expert opinion from this thread I'm afraid. | minerve
30/1/2019 16:14 | Excellent news on GKN Aerospace, the article written with just the right amount of detail, on types of components, on Director quotes and on future prospects resulting from the agreement. I wholeheartedly, and without reservation, welcome the publication of these articles on this site. | meanwhile
30/1/2019 16:05 | More useless information from the GKN Aerospace website. “GKN AEROSPACE AND PRATT & WHITNEY SIGN AGREEMENT FOR F135 ENGINE COMPONENTS GKN Fokker announced today at the roll-out ceremony for the first Dutch F-35 that it has signed an agreement with Pratt & Whitney for the initial production of advanced composite parts for the F135 engine, which powers the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II fighter aircraft. Manufacturing will take place at GKN Fokker in Hoogeveen, the Netherlands. This contract expands GKN Aerospace’s involvement in the F135 program and reinforces the company’s role as a long-term supplier of engine components for Pratt & Whitney. “This agreement reaffirms the success of the F-35 and F135 industrial participation program in the Netherlands,” said Hans Büthker, Chief Executive of GKN Aerospace. “We are proud to be part of the F135 team and to expand our longstanding relationship with Pratt & Whitney.” GKN Aerospace also manufactures wiring systems and covered engine components for the F135. The wiring systems are manufactured in the Netherlands, and the covered engine components are manufactured in Norway. “This award underscores Pratt & Whitney’s commitment to F135 engine industrial participation in the Netherlands,” said Caroline Cooper, Senior Director, International Business Development, Pratt & Whitney Military Engines. “GKN Fokker competed globally and was selected as the best value supplier of these engine components, and will play a valuable role in our global supply chain for the F135 engine, as we continue to reduce the cost of the propulsion system.” | brexitplus
30/1/2019 16:03 | Sorry, an English breakfast isn't v.good if it isn't sat on fried oatcake or sat alongside some fried bread. Oatcake is a Staffordshore thing so Southern softies just wouldn't get it. | minerve
30/1/2019 15:58 | Afternoon all. I’ve been out having fun in Bristol. Had the best Full English Breakfast I’ve had for ages. 2 rashers of crispy bacon. 2 farm made sausages. 2 fried eggs, mushrooms, fried tomato, hash brown, Black pudding and baked beans + 2 rounds of toast and a couple of cups of England sg Breakfast tea. Wonderful. I did ask Porky if he had walked away from a negotiation and he refused to answer. Dragons Den - dreadful programme - the people looking for money never seem to learn what is needed. Just like contestants in The Apprentice. I’m afraid I have no verse to post. Am now off for a long walk before Scalextric this evening. But weren’t the votes last night brilliant. Glad Grieve was put in his place. Half Frog he probably has dual nationality and will walk into an EU job. Now he really is a posh nob. | brexitplus
30/1/2019 14:33 | StillBirthPlus had a little getting lamb, It's fleece was white as snow; And everywhere that StillBirthPlus went The getting lamb was sure to go. | minerve
30/1/2019 14:27 | Here's some Melrose chat then, Minerve, for you to get your teeth into. 'Melrose am good.' | meanwhile
30/1/2019 14:24 | Uncle willie in one his nice new sashes ,Fell in the fire and was burnt to ashes,Now,though the room grows very chilly,I haven't the heart to poke poor billy | steeplejack |
