Twas the uncrossing trade, preceded by an odd lot trading at 127.5p. Illiquidity is the bane of this share sometimes. A couple of late trades reported from lunchtime with ~335k shares traded at 135p which I think was actually close to the bid side at the time. Still holding for better things here...

Nice rise today so the share price so looking a bit healthier now after recent lows. The near 8% rise has certainly brought a lump to my wallet.. I knew these would come good eventually. I just had to be patient is all.

Looks like it now with Gresham House increasing to 7.23% (up by ~1.2m shares) reported today; trade of 16th July.

Purchases would be my guess - hence the move higher.

2m shares traded at 130p. Quite the lump for MGP. The trades were reported after hours so impossible to see if they were sales /purchases / crosses unless anyone knows different.

With a healthy enough premium, I'd be okay with that!

Leo - for the reasons stated really. I see them as a choice plum ready to be plucked.

Hi Skyship. I'm surprised you think they will struggle to remain independent. Is this due to business pressures, or just because you see them as a takeover target?

I've been taking more of a look at MGP; and decided I should be adding to a small allocation opener, in spite of overall Market doubts.

As we all know, MGP is rather a unique company. An important NHS provider with absolutely no direct equivalent. So for anyone wishing to start or extend their UK health business, MGP must present a useful core around which to build.

I suspect that MGP will indeed reward with organic growth; however I also believe that it is unlikely to survive as an independent entity beyond 2020.

A bidder would have to ante up a pretty useful premium to gain Board acceptance. Perhaps 180p would do it.

Agreed. Good update. Looks like a short term hit, but well placed for the longer term

Just bought in here at 123.5 and 124 for our SIPPs and LISAs. Unusually liquid with a fairly small dealing spread relative to last time I was in it. A gradual return to normality for non-COVID treatment and the advantages of remote diagnosis swung it for me. I tend to agree with SKYSHIP above about the absolute level of the market and am likewise in preferreds, cash and a couple of small selected exposures.

nw99 - that GHE disclosure was because they had taken over investment management of SEC which was already a holder.

Nevertheless - right to buy I hope as I've also joined here @ 125p. Only a few as wish to retain my high cash balance (52%) and short-term pref. share holdings (25%).

@phurley thats silly to think NHS hospitals will suddenly be in a position to cancel outsourced contracts post coronav but maybe consider the reasons why they outsourced the work in the first place. I'm fairly sure this will only be temporary impact to revenue for MGP.

Unless they're going bust, or needing fresh equity, then the correct way to value anything is, as ever, with a rough DCF number. The fact that MGP have very little business now or for the next few months doesn't mean it should "tank". It may tank further. It may recover. But if things are back to normal in hospitals in a few months time then MGP will recover along with most other things. The DCF valuation won't change much as a results of corona. Hardly rocket science...
