I agree, this is a good stable business with the ability to win contracts in a difficult market.

MER will continue to do well while labour are in power, but after the next election there will be swinging cuts in public spending which are bound to affect them. I wouldn't be so certain about the "immune to bad debts" bit in the update either. Most US states are on the verge of bankruptcy and I can see the same happening to local authorities over here in due course as defaults in council tax spiral. Brilliantly run Company though

Suprised not to see much movement here following great update - suspect that is reflection of general market today. As per above if we can hold 238/240 today then onwards and upwards. Broker Collins also restaed 335 tgt this morning.

Long term chart looks like a rollercoaster I once rode in Blackpool.

And my investment in mears is proving to be just as uncomfortable.

Updated your share at CHART TRADER

From looking at the chart, u will see it is below resistance again.
There is no indication from the chart as to the direction of this share, so caution is required.
You will see I have hi-lited a p&f sell signal, which may be more critical if the share trades thru the support line.

bit of a ramble I'm afraid but if u check back to the blog from time to time u will see that it works most of the time, of course u still have to make the actual trading decisions and u can't always be right.

When a blue support line appears, if the price falls below the level of the line the line can be removed in the first few days.
This hasn't happened with your share so it has established itself above this area.
Whilst the share stays above the blue line it is in an uptrend, as I look at your share, a resistance line has appeared.
The first check is will it still be there at the close (if it is I will update your share tonight).
Caution is required, (now the opposite of above),will the line establish itself, if for example I was thinking of buying this share I would wait to see if the share can trade above this price.
Above the blue line, the question is do I take profits or will this share keep going up.
Below the red line, do I close this positon and wait for the share to break the resistance line.
A big warning I can't advise anybody on their own trading style, and by this afternoon this share may have reversed and removed the resistance line.
The beauty of trading !!
I do know that if u keep asking yourself the two key questions, your overall trading in time will improve.

example
last time resistance established itself was 280p until support 215p, I emphasise that was last time and not this time.

thanks o1lman. What is your definition in terms of price for "establishing itself above this area"? Cheers

Have updated your share on my blog. The share has broken thru a resistance line dating from Feb. For this rally to continue the share needs to establish itself above this area.

Will it, there's only one way I know of, wait and watch.
Check back from time to time, and if there is anything of interest to see I will update the share.
For the traders amongst you, one way to have traded this share was to have sold after resistance came in and bought back when support appeared.
Best of luck with your trading.
