There was a broker tip yesterday with a target of 300p. Not sure who it was though. Maybe it is that filtering through. When these start they fly!

scaremongering. no rights issue on the cards. at year end the company had net cash of 6.5m and 40m banking facility. plenty of headroom and strong cashflow.

Our order book stands at GBP1.6 billion!

Market cap of 10% of order book, pretty low really although a crude measure. Earnings visibility make this a great defensive stock!

Chart
That's looking a whole lot better, check back to my blog as I will be updating the chart from time to time.
Basically whilst above the blue support line the only thing to be concerned about is profit taking !!

New Contract (Mears)

TIDMMER

RNS Number : 9733P
Mears Group PLC
02 April 2009

?
2 April 2009
Mears Group PLC
("Mears")

Social Housing contract award
Mears is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a six-year partnership
with Shoreline Housing Partnership ("Shoreline") to provide responsive repairs
and maintenance services. The contract is valued at GBP50 million for the
six-year period and has a potential worth in excess of GBP80 million subject to
an opportunity for a further four-year extension. Shoreline is a registered
social landlord which manages 8,200 homes centered around Grimsby which were
previously the subject of a stock transfer from North East Lincolnshire Council.
This award widens the range of services we provide to Shoreline, adding to the
partnering arrangements we hold with them for Decent Homes and Gas Servicing &
Maintenance. The contract will be run from Shoreline's new purpose built
headquarters offering the opportunity for unprecedented levels of partnership
working and innovation. The contract has the potential to develop in to an all
encompassing solution to cover every part of Shoreline's housing maintenance
provision post 2010.

Commenting, Bob Holt, Chief Executive of Mears Group, said:
"We would not achieve these levels of contract wins without the great references
that we get from our existing clients. Our strategy, based upon long term
partnerships, delivering customer excellence, innovation and investment in our
people, continues to be the driver behind winning good quality contracts that
provide clear and sustainable margins. Our order book stands at GBP1.6 billion
and the visibility of future revenues has been further enhanced."

I have posted a chart on my blog, which will give hope to all holders of Mears.

read comment underneath, at present this support looks to be a very weak affair
so would watch it very carefully, but at present one would say the current down leg is either over or the share is forming for the next leg down.
edit
if the share could finish up a couple of pence would look more healthy, will it, I have no idea I'm afraid.

Good support on a very red day for the ftse, I think that this could be the bottom for MER! Added some more because the chart looks excellent for a bounce and this is a cracking company too lowly rated! Nice to trade in these as well as they are very predictable in their medium term movements!

For all BB contributors.

It was the same now. I knew that if I bought a stock and turned out to be wrong, all the cheering and pushing in the world would not alter the price half a point. And there was no telling how far the market might fall. I did not like the trend, but I knew it was no use trying to fight it.

maybe worth a read, written well before BB's thought of.
