With an annual 'end of year' trading update due out tomorrow, it is beginning to look (from today's share price movement) as if the market senses (or knows?) that 'this' will be positive news. From a great distance, I personally expect a solid update. ex

MARS revenue growth is now outperforming the sector, with growth expected to outperform over the next few years. Currently yielding a 5.25% div @ 139p, and a p/e 10.1 on f/c eps 13.74p for Y Sept 16, these have been oversold.

Ive just spoken with them. A copy of my contract note emailed to them will suffice. Qualifying criteria is 500 shares. Entitles you to 20% off food, drink and accommodation Worth the effort IMO, especially with one of their pubs just down the road!

Apparently you can with a nominee account - as per the MARS website. AJ Bell don't allow you to though. Might try MARS direct

National Living Wage is nothing to do with "workers rights", it's an attempt by the Government to lighten the load on the benefits system whereby employers paying low wages were effectively being subsidised by the state topping up employees' pay via working tax credit, housing benefit etc. They'll stick with it (NLW) for that reason.

As for pubs being hit by "consumers tightening the purse strings" (which I personally doubt will happen anyway) the evidence of the last recession was that whilst wet-led 'boozers' suffered, food-led pubs did very well from people trading down from restaurants to pubs.

True, but worth bearing in mind that much of the profit made these days comes from food sold in pubs, not the drink. Current share price weakness is partly a reflection of the uncertainty as to whether consumers will start tightening the purse strings + eating/drinking out less. I'm undecided as to the likelihood of such an eventuality but the Brexit vote has created this uncertainty. Aimho
