Thanks technovator , indeed what you said.

FT Alphaville..

BE
Ocado drops the UK grocery business bit into an M&S JV at a valuation of £1.8bn for the whole lot, which looks on the high side.

BE
The big question is, of course, how M&S can afford that.

11:18 am
BE
Given it's already nearly debt=3x ebitda and it's a retailer with gigantic lease liabilities coming onto the balance sheet due to IFRS etc.

11:19 am
BE
So ............ M&S rights issue?

This story been leaked to press in order to ramp the share price. M & S will need a rights issue to fund such a joint venture.

Marks and Spencer Group PLC (the "Company") - media speculation into potential deal with Ocado Group plc

Following press speculation, Marks and Spencer Group PLC confirms that it is in discussions with Ocado Group plc regarding a joint venture in UK Retail. There is no certainty that these discussions will result in any agreement or as to the timing of any such agreement.

So deal to be done, shorts will be a rush to close this week.

The good news is that the 10% who are short may well close as this rises and £4 can be reached short term. To get to £6 would mean a merger or bid deal going through.

MKS & other retailers doing well today due to strong the £, as those like MKS who import goods gain when the pound is strong.

MKS certainly made the right choice in employing Holly Willoughby to model their clothes. Will attract a lot more younger shoppers, so sales will be boosted.

Waitrose has been voted the nation's best supermarket in a league table of the UK's favourite supermarkets, unseating Aldi who claimed last year's top spot.

....Marks and Spencer (M&S) came second in the supermarket rankings, while online supermarket Ocado was rated best for home delivery.
