MKS were 554p less than 12months ago.
The fall was overdone.
Good to see a partial recovery.
A worthwhile buy at these levels.

Markets nowadays are ridiculous - MKS release poorer results that analyst forecasts and the shares go up. Couple of my other holdings smashed the forecasts completely and they tank! Don't know why I bother sometimes!

How much do u think QWF would pay for MKS £ 4. -£4.5 p/s they are heavily invested in horse racing and oil funds are drying up I doubt it can afford such an investment at this time, but someone else stateside may.

The bell is really starting to toll for M&S fashions. That trading update on clothes sales of -8.9% was a shocker! M&S fashions are dowdy!

Global sovereign wealth funds are waiting to pounce on bargains instead of paring stakes in the U.K. following the Brexit vote, a senior industry expert said Friday.

"Sovereign wealth funds are patient capital. They have a long term investment horizon," Michael Maduell, president of the Sovereign Wealth Fund Institute, told CNBC's "Squawk Box" on Friday.

"When everyone is freaking out about the pound sterling going to a 31-year low, wealth funds can come in and tactically purchase assets and tactically place bids on companies."

Their buyers just don't seem able to stock their stores with clothes ladies will buy.
Colours bland according to wifey ... gents stuff is good ,imho but so much ruddy choice that I walk out without buying anything as I can't make my mind up.

I mentioned the special dividend looked ill advised.
However my record at calling the MKS share price is woeful,
not currently holding.

Investors Chronicle:

IC TIP UPDATES:

No one really held out much hope for first quarter results from Marks & Spencer (MKS). New chief executive Steve Rowe has only been in the top job for a matter of months and the decision to reduce general merchandise promotions and move the summer sale to July meant an 8.3 per cent drop in clothing sales was to be expected. On the food side, total sales rose 4 per cent. We’ll likely look at this in more detail, but our recovery bet remains long-term. Buy.

Credit Suisse:

We remain structurally bearish on M&S particularly given the lack of
progress on restructuring the store park, which will only get harder to
achieve post Referendum. There will be optical support from the dividend
yield of 9.4% (inc special dividends) and FCF yield of 11.6%. However with a
payout ratio of near 100% and underinvestment, one has to question the
sustainability of either.

Retail analyst Nick Bubb was distinctly unimpressed. "With the City looking for a LFL decline of at least 4%, despite weak comps, Marks & Spencer was expected to have gloomy news about Q1 clothing sales to report today," he said. "But the news is horrible, with Clothing and Home LFL sales nearly 9% down in the 13 weeks to July 2nd Food is also rather disappointing."

Starting to think M&S are now an outdated business ... times have moved on and Marks have failed to keep track
Never see teenagers browsing their offerings , just appears a "not cool" store at the moment (probably has not been for a long while)

Some analysts, however, were unconvinced. Jamie Merriman and Jennifer Wong at Bernstein said they “struggle to understand” how M&S can continue to guide toward growth in clothing and home sales that was similar to last year, as it “implies a significant improvement in performance for the remainder of the year”.
