22/6/2016 08:48 | Think if we do have a major correction in the general market before end of year then 300 - 320p would be a good price to get in...and if Christmas don't pan out then 270 - 280p early 2017....anybody think that special divi is a signal that going forward the divi could be readjusted?...it was just a sweetner to cushion the blow of bad news...No Advice Intended... | diku

16/6/2016 10:00 | M&S new store layout fails to impress High street stalwart Marks & Spencer (MKS) has failed to win over analysts with a new store layout in North London. Haitong Research analyst Tony Shiret retained his ‘buy’ recommendation and fair value price of 450p on the shares following a shake-up of stores by new chief executive Steve Rowe. The shares rose 2.7p to 351.4p yesterday. ‘The biggest issue is the effect of taking out most of the fashion forward elements from women’s wear and replacing them with some much more basic products,’ he said. ‘This takes out most of the aspirational element of the offer in our view and takes clothing in the opposite direction to food.’ He added that repricing ‘is not accompanied by any overt or more discreet price message’ and ‘the price architecture, which has clearly been compressed, is not very clear in our view’. ‘We are pleased that Mr Rowe is not hanging around here. The whole offer will be more appraisable when autumn/winter product allows us to judge the balance of fashion within this new setting better, and generally when the product development reflects his long-term view. Currently this store is in danger of widening the gap between the positioning of food and non-food in our opinion.’ | philanderer

15/6/2016 09:29 | It's gone ex Divi. 16.5p paid out in July. Obviously no idea if they'll be another later in the year until results. | capeview
14/6/2016 15:55 | Can anyone tell me if there is still a divi in Mks ta | stevenrevell
14/6/2016 10:34 | It`s just the last few days this has happened. Corbyn still very quiet , can`t be seen to be backing the losing horse. Bosses of JCB, Dyson and Wetherspoons all backing Brexit seem to be swaying thoughts as well against the unelected and unaccountable ;-) | philanderer
14/6/2016 10:24 | Appreciate the view phil, thanks. It is the same with posters around my way in Surrey, not seen one Remain poster up. | essentialinvestor
14/6/2016 10:20 | Morning EI , DGE and a few others look very tempting at the moment , ABF I like a lot as well. But with german bund yields now below zero , we`re paying to lend the german government money. Not good. Vote leave posters have gone up all around my village in Bucks. When in the UK I live in the constituency of Beaconsfield , one of the safest Tory constituencies. Cameron has screwed up with his latest state pension threat. Even a narrow 'remain' vote will now see him out, legislation won`t get passed and a general election to worry about later in the year. So, a short answer nothing into equities at the moment - apart from a few PLND yesterday ;-) | philanderer
14/6/2016 09:57 | Hi Phil, any thoughts on DGE here, tempted or not -TIA. Apologies folks for the off topic question. | essentialinvestor
14/6/2016 09:55 | And hoo bl&&dyray for a FTSE and DAX short, cos that`s all that`s up again today. Credit Suisse reiterates 'underperform' and 370p target. Pi$$ing down again :-( | philanderer
13/6/2016 11:36 | Oh well at least my € account is having a good day. | philanderer
13/6/2016 07:31 | Morning All, I had a quick look at both Investors Chronicle & Shares Magazine when in WHSmith yesterday. Shares Mag has an article giving a BUY recommendation. IC now says MKS shares are "Dirt Cheap". Make up your own mind on that. | freedom97 |
