Good results in early nov will send this share soaring.
Never complain about the shorters.
How else could we buy MKS at below 300p when they have been 550p less than 12 months ago.
They give us these opportunities.

"Liberum analyst Tom Gadsby retained his ‘sell’ recommendation and target price of 250p on the shares, which rose 1.6% to 331p yesterday."

Who would have thought it, a Liberum analyst getting it completely wrong as the share price increases by over 3.2% in just one day.

And they get paid to give this type of advice!

The traditional retailers, TSCO, MKS and SBRY are each getting their act together after the share price collapses of recent years.
I bought into all three over the past few months and it is paying off.
I am confident MKS will be turned around.

They have been scared into a new realty and financial discipline. All have a great loyal customer base. Each became complacent and wasteful in the past.

Had to circle MKS Brooklands car park 4 times to get parking on Sunday.

3 for £6 on selected beer atm, which may not seem great, but includes
some interesting options, Saddlers Mud City Stout is very moorish and strong!.

Liberum note details:

M&S spending more on declining sales

High street stalwart Marks & Spencer (MKS) is ‘spending more to sell less’ and it needs to close stores to boost profitability.

Liberum analyst Tom Gadsby retained his ‘sell’ recommendation and target price of 250p on the shares, which rose 1.6% to 331p yesterday.

‘M&S clothing and home sales in its UK stores have declined by 15%, or £568 million, since 2012 as online sales have grown by £334 million,’ he said.

‘By 2019 we forecast the instore declines to reach £886 million, down 24% over seven years. Online replaces only £452 million over that period. The cost to serve customers on two fronts, rather than just through stores, contributes to the 2.1% increase in the cost/sales ratio out to 2019. A major store closure programme is needed to boost profitability but would risk harming click & collect, now 60% of online.’

bit short on analysis here...

store gossip is pretty much useless - what matters
is real data on the state of the competetion and
insights into consumer behaviour and economics.

I know I know - I haven't anything useful to add
either.....

demise of BHS appears to have had no effect.,

Primark -the noises from the bottom end are decidedly off
- almost entirely explained by the impacts of a lower
pound on their supply chain from China in my view..

so it ought to be better for Marks

next up the autumn (unofficial) sales season and the
issue of pricing

This is not just any sandwich...

British Airways has confirmed Marks & Spencer is to provide sandwiches and snacks from next year on the airline's short-haul routes.

Starting on January 11 2017, short-haul economy passengers from Heathrow and Gatwick will have to pay for their food, although BA said prices would be competitive and in many cases cheaper than rival offerings.

On Stansted or London City flights, the M&S food will not be introduced until summer 2017, meaning passengers will still be eligible for a snack free of charge until then.

BA said the seasonally inspired M&S on-board menu 'will feature a variety of delicious fresh sandwiches, salads, savoury nibbles and sweet treats'.

There will be a number of healthy eating, gluten-free and vegetarian options.

The airline said the M&S deal would improve quality and choice for passengers, not just in the menu on offer but also in ways to pay.

As well as using credit cards, passengers will be able to pay using their mobile phones or their Avios frequent flyer points. But cash will not be accepted.

There will be no charge for food on long-haul flights and in BA's short-haul Club Europe cabin.

M&S created one of the most imitated adverts for its food in recent years. Despite the fact the slogan 'This is not just food…this is M&S food' was ditched in 2010, the campaign is still associated with the high-street store among the public.
