08/11/2016 14:15 | M&S could do with a rebrand like my local which is now the Dog & Duck The company is stuck with an older demographic Maybe make one half of store M&S Classic and the other half Online Big stores will die out | muffinhead
08/11/2016 14:00 | free, good point. I liked this from the statement: "We continue to improve our core M&S brand and simplify product choices by focusing on the brands that are most relevant to our customers, such as Autograph, per una and Blue Harbour. As a result, we will remove Indigo, Collezione and North Coast sub-brands" On consensus forecasts the yield is 5.4% which will do me. | philanderer
08/11/2016 13:59 | At least they are trying to save themselves but looking three years ahead, could be continual decline, sad. | elmfield

08/11/2016 13:43 | Interesting 40min programme on R4 before, 'You and Yours'. Many contacted saying the M&S clothing range is to big and they find to overwhelming. Belinda Earl (Style Director) from M&S said, they are focusing on simplifying the range. Both men & women contacted R4 some saying they love the clothes other saying the opposite. Also, covered the food side too. You can listen to the programme here: | freedom97

08/11/2016 12:55 | Struggle to see the upside here folks. Where is any even semblance of hope in a non food turnaround. Even L4L in food now down, in fairness they have outperformed the wider market in food. | essentialinvestor
08/11/2016 12:53 | the M&S web site is the key problem -- its useless ... the first clothes retailer that allows you to upload an image of yourself and all your key measurements will be the winner .... then all you have to do is ask the site to cloth you in their best products , and you can see what you look like without having to trawl through all the sizes they stock etc etc seems simple to me. | pjw956
08/11/2016 12:00 | clearly their food offerings go down well with the uk middle class and the grey pound. now if they could get the clothing offering right the share price could really go places ! | maurillac
08/11/2016 11:50 | Is the Simply food any posher than normal food?... | diku
08/11/2016 11:47 | Simply food is at premium price due extra cost of running a small store. | qantas
08/11/2016 11:31 | Traditionally a food hall was a food section within a larger M&S carrying a larger selection of food, and a simply food was a stand alone small site food only. eg petrol stations, motorway services and very small high street food only shops ( similar to Sainsburys local).. the lines are becoming a little blurred as some of the food only stores are now larger than the smallest food halls within the M&S shops...as ever it depends on demand and customer profile.ie those with the highest disposable income will get the bigger stores with the greater range | pjw956
08/11/2016 10:55 | :-D Any idea what the difference between an M&S Simply Food and an M&S Food Hall is ? | philanderer
08/11/2016 10:33 | Retail Vision analyst?????.....I bet he got some specs!!!... | diku
08/11/2016 10:23 | Retail Vision analyst John Ibbotson said: "M&S's humiliating withdrawal from 10 overseas markets is... a Dunkirk moment for [the] iconic British brand." Investors were unsure about M&S's results and store closure plans, with shares initially rising before falling back in early trading. Analysts at Liberum said they had "wanted to see radical action from M&S", but that they saw Mr Rowe's plans as "'medium' radical". Of the UK plans, Matthew Hopkinson, a director at the Local Data Company, said: "M&S's store closures whilst not significant statistically will have a big impact for the towns where they have been the High Street anchor for many years." | philanderer

08/11/2016 09:07 | It's the only place really you can get decent quality ladies underwear, everywhere else just doesn't last and it ain't much cheaper, more competition in men's these days as for outer clothing, the quality is there and some nice styles this year, personally last years looked dated all imho dyor | csmwssk12hu |
