13/12/2007 19:10 | I recall an article mentioning on here some time back - I recall a Mano response that they could not be paying much to the local community when they had not yet found/produced any specific assets. My memory of it is a bit hazy. | unionhall
13/12/2007 13:05 | I suppose that it is highly likely that the locals may object to an 'official' mine because so many of them are engaged in their own prospecting! You can't really blame them. | chipperfrd
13/12/2007 12:49 | And another: Monday 5 October Liberia Local authorities in the Gola-Konneh District of Grand Cape Mount County complain of illicit mining. I have to admit this is the first I'd heard of problems. | luckyjonah
13/12/2007 12:44 | This is not the first problem with locals: GRAND CAPE MOUNT COUNTY, May 31,---A cross section of citizens from the gold and diamond-rich clan of Darblo, Gola Konneh District, Grand Cape Mount County have strongly questioned the legality and credibility of the Mano River Resource Incorporated (MRRI), an international company presently exploring in the region. Needs to be kept an eye on - management's perspective would be interesting to know. | luckyjonah
12/12/2007 11:08 | IF MANA dosn't have the goodwill of locals, that is a serious issue , came out of the blue here. Will keep it monitored from now. | hectorp
12/12/2007 09:59 | Tension Mounts in Cape Mount Citizens Set Road Blocks By J. Rufus Paul Published: 12 December, 2007 Tension mounts in the gold and diamond rich region of Gola Konneh district, Grand Cape Mount County, when citizens of the region set up road blocks to deny vehicles belonging to Mano River Resources Incorporated (MRRI) access to the region. ....may explain the share price drop...as well as general market malaise.... Unfortunately i couldn't get the full article. Let's hope this does not develop into something more serious. Bingo | bingobarnes
10/12/2007 08:17 | good spot chip... Let's hope they are stepping up the PR offensive. | unionhall
10/12/2007 01:53 | From latest Mining Review. | chipperfrd
09/12/2007 21:13 | I've heard rumour there is a deeper rig on site to prove up further resource. Don't take my word for it tho'. Just industry gossip. | unionhall
09/12/2007 00:22 | unionhall. I hold my stake and said I will add even more when I see more positive news regards the New Liberty Mine. However the silence is deafening for what I consider is hugely important to Me,and considering that according to the Indaba presentation which was a confirmation of the January announcement-it was considered that the Mine should now be under construction. The lack of any confirmation/updated information of what is going on for what I consider their Flagship project --is disappointing and I wonder if Mana are going to do a Minco. If anyone has new information regards the New Liberty Gold Mine- please post it.................. | richgit
07/12/2007 13:59 | With a bit of luck we will have a diamond update within the next week and Stellar will be floated by end-January to get 2008 off to a good start. I imagine they would like to increase the New Liberty Resource by proving their contention of continued depth before they finally decide mining strategy. all imho... | unionhall
29/11/2007 13:33 | Largish article on Petra and MANA in shares mag. | hectorp
29/11/2007 10:40 | charting aside: MANA share price is returning to the point where it has continuing support... it could be a good time for anyone interested, and there are a few, to start adding or buying . THe lower ( gently dropping) one year support line, I surmise, will not be met again. | hectorp
29/11/2007 09:03 | Gold in Guinea and Sierra Leone | encarter
28/11/2007 11:22 | Yes but it's irrelevant. It's one of about 15 Mano projects and it's one of the smallest. | encarter
27/11/2007 19:19 | no but we have a JV with Trans hex in Liberia | bageo
27/11/2007 18:59 | We are not Transhex... | hectorp
23/11/2007 19:24 | Thank you U. I find analysis of carats quite tricky. Mana seems the better holding for exposure than Petra who as we know have many interests. | hectorp
23/11/2007 15:30 | "In Sierra Leone, Petra is developing a fissure operation and test work to date indicates the potential for economic operations" From today's Petra RNS. HP - 50 to 80 would be fine if extensive and particularly good quality. Should be the situation in Kono.... | unionhall
22/11/2007 12:47 | That could be a moot point arf. Perhaps the Authorities should simply demand that all samples are closely examined by a Government Customs / revenue chap. That of course would be difficult to do. | hectorp
22/11/2007 12:05 | There must be a way round this - like for example, having a list of trusted mineral analysis laboratories and allowing exports of samples to them. Since the article mentions rutile, it occurs to me that it would be much easier to hide diamonds in 100,000 tonnes of rutile than in half a tonne of exploration sample. | arf dysg |
