I can see a scenario where MAGP is taken over by WED. It's already come to the aid of the company at the last minute - when liquidity was dangerously low, probably too low for the bank's liking given covenants were broken, and with an audit report that was verging on being qualified - in a scratch my back' deal involving it being at the receiving end of 29% of MAGP equity.

With no significant shift in the oil price, it may be just a matter of time before liquidity comes under strain again and WED 'pops the question'.

Evidently, the 'white knight' of WED has an interest in keeping RT in employment, potentially generating annual fees of perhaps a few hundred thousand dollars for MAGP, in return and as part of its reward, it gets to keep 29% of MAGP issued share capital.

Remind me again: the company's raison d'etre was 'to build a significant on-shore oil and gas business' with a management team which has a combined 100 years experience' in the sector. Didn't that suggest creating shareholder value?

Ah well.... 'he who pays the piper calls the tune' and that seems to disqualify the ordinary shareholder - at this stage of the drama, that's hardly unusual.

And what timing .... just in time as the writing had been on the wall for a couple of years. Bank debt was due to be repaid on 8th August 2017, rescheduled twice, and one or two covenants had been breached. The audit report on the FY2016 accounts was also pretty dire if anyone needed an independent opinion regarding the business's ability to continue as a 'going-concern'.

Still, management is undaunted in its ambition as its website is unchanged. How soothing for shareholders to know that.

I hope area44 sold at today's intraday high early this morning. He would have made a tidy profit on his buy last week. MAGP is not a share to hold long term, as past experience shows. The downward trend of the MAGP share price has been going on for almost 5 years now, but there have been numerous big spikes up during that time on APPARENTLY good news that always turn out to be false dawns. Unfortunately, this could be another example of a false dawn.

WOW!. Rita has landed a knockout blow! ML out for the count! She can carry on receiving her massive renumeration and her family can continue to be employed by MAGP!

It's another placing and yet more dilution for existing shareholders, but at least it was at a premium to yesterday's share price and it's not a "death spiral" type funding arrangement. MAGP gets another £763,000 to tide it over for the time being.

Well today's news has done for Tom's prediction that ML would carry the day at the GM!

The extra shares will clearly be voting for Rita, so I gues NTOG will withdraw now, very clever move, and the BOD are guaranteed their salaries for a long time to come now, very nice.

Actually it's MAGP. That's lost over 98% of it's value in 5 years, whilst NTOG has lost over 94% of it's value in 5 years. LOL. The NTOG share price has performed around 3 times better than the MAGP share price over those 5 years, but BOTH have performed abysmally badly! It's a case of which dog is the worst dog. LOL.

Of course, TW & BMD (DL), one time partners in fighting a successful libel action against SER (Sefton Resources) have fallen out big time! TW is supporting NTOG/Matt Lofgrans, whilst DL is supporting MAGP/Rita Whittington. DL praises RW, whilst TW slags her off. DL slags of ML, whilst TW praises him.

TW, DL, RW, & ML? What an awful quartet!! What an horrendous foursome!!

MAGP & NTOG shareholders have my sympathy. Both NTOG & MAGP have been disastrous investments for long term shareholders. However anyone who has bought shares (apart from as a very short term punt) in either company in the last few years needs their head examined!

area44. You have bought shares in a company that many would consider to be insolvent. Look at the trade payables figure! Look at the bank borrowings! Crunch time is the 8th August when the bank has the option to call in the loan or extend it! MAGP's future in the hands of it's bank!!

area44. MAGP couldn't make an operating profit when the PoO was over US$100 per bbl. Nobody is predicting the PoO rising to those level again anytime soon, so why would it make a profit if, say, the PoO rose to say US$65 anytime soon? Don't forget that though the company only listed on AIM in late 2011 it was previously listed on Plus Markets (became ISDX and now NEX exchange) for a number of years. So MAGP was listed for over 4 years whilst the PoO was over US$100, yet it never made an operating profit.

Why has it never made an operating profit? Because it's business plan is fatally flawed. It's admin expenses are far too high. It's revenue from tiny percentage stakes in scores of wells will never cover it's exhorbitant admin costs for such a small company. MAGP is a very lucrative gravy train for RITA, her family & other BoD members. Why does she receive such a high salary for running such a tiny company? Her company expenses are probably higher than her salary as I doubt if she travels economy class, or stays in the equivalents of Premier Inn's! Why is her family employed? Why are they on the gravy train?

Fletch is correct. MAGP only quotes initial production figures for wells, but it's widely acknowledged that those high initial flow rates soon rapidly fall. For example a well that initially flows at 200boepd will likely be flowing at only 20-40 boepd once the well drilling costs have been recouped. Also how much of that production is gas? Gas is dirt cheap in the USA.

MAGP is NOT for serious contrarian investors; it's solely for gamblers and traders! Look back at the chart for the past year. No doubt some cute traders have made profits from dead cat bounces, some of which see a 50% intraday rise. However mug PI's buying for the long term, who continually average down, have been the LOSERS. MAGP is definitely NOT another Barclays Bank contrarian investment back in the 70's!

Why anyone gets so worked up by a pup of a company like magp is beyond me...There always has been, still is, companies listed that takes the pi for a ride one way or another..at the end of the days if fools like area44 wish to carry on investing their money without doing their research and can't/won't see the pitfalls, then i for one won't be getting my panties in a bunch, unlike fletch who seems to do whenever magp are mentioned..
