The inability to complete the audit of a relatively small advertising group nine months after the year end seems extremely poor to Investor's Champion.

"Further to its trading update on 27 August 2020, the Company has continued to trade well and profitably in the second half of the year. New business and client retention have been strong across both geographies and disciplines. The performance is considerably stronger than anticipated at the outset of the Covid-19 pandemic."

Trust me with your money. I’m going away for a few weeks. You might be able to have it when I come back. But I might not come back. And I might not have the money either. And by the way it’s not my fault either. Unbelievable

Really? The shares are going to be suspended, for several weeks at least, by the end of the day. Odd how that is not in the headline. So they are talking a positive story, can't blame them for that, given the pending suspension. In the circumstances, not much else they could do. But they talk a lot of cash realisation and cash balances, with only a mention in passing of the various tax deferrals - PAYE, NI and (presumably) corporate taxes. Rent deferrals. Drawing down of the rolling cash facility as well. Without the full liability picture you can't see what the true cash picture is. Then there was this gem from earlier in the period - better times, clearly: "In February 2019, we received GBP23.3m from the sale of the Group's remaining 24.9% shareholding in Walker Media. Out of these proceeds, GBP8.9m was used to settle management options which as an exception were paid in cash that would otherwise have been settled through issuing shares in the Company. In addition, part of the proceeds were used to pay Company dividends of GBP9.8m." So the current and previous management have been well looked after, don't worry about that. Plus you can forget about using last year as some sort of basis for the current year - not just the cash one-offs and deferrals, but it is also full of furlough use - so the staff costs are no basis for the current year. In short, there is virtually no visibility on future cash generation and consumption. Combined with (glossed over, it's all in the past, so please don't mention it) accounting misstatements, revised financial covenants (because the previous ones would have been broken, all of which comes at a future cost), the almost unprecedented non-publication of the financial statements and the direction of travel of the pandemic, it's not a great time to be left holding untradeable shares in this company. Put another way, would you go out and buy these shares today, knowing this was your last chance for several weeks? It's the same situation as holding them.

Fascinating....net cash £20m so EV£46m and it made c.£18m last year.....adjusted of course, trading profitably H2 this year.....so you can see why stake was built, if net cash continues to rise and profitability is maintained even at half last year during COVID times, it looks v. cheap IMO...DYOR

It wasn't really a comment on whether it was right to be long or not, purely that IMO it would be unwise to be too heavily guided by their comments on cash.

Thanks, and it's a fair point. Better to be safe than sorry. I'm guessing you are not a holder?

Obviously i have no idea what is really going on but you can totally disregard that cash figure as far as i'm concerned.

Gross cash. Net cash is £20m after you deduct the fully drawn revolving credit facility. And the results delayed yet again - masked by the information about cash (which is reported as on specific day, mid-month, that may or may not be representative of an average) and claimed profitability. Forgive my cynicism, but I have experience of this lot from years gone by.

Market cap now £77m against £56m cash. That's over 70% value of the company already supported by cash. And it's not a capital intensive business. I would also hope that the figures are as accurate as can be immediately after the accounting issues reported.

Considering the valuation, that update is fine. More clarity and financing headroom. So it should no longer be priced to go bust, should bounce quite a bit

Hi all, My mate Peter @Conkers3 and myself did a ‘Twin Petes Investing’ Podcast a few days ago and part of our discussion covers SAA and the prospects for the Marketing sector. We also chatted about loads of other Stocks and as always a fair bit of general Portfolio Management educational stuff. Anyway, if you use Apple, Audioboom, Overcast or Spotify you can find it under the 'Conkers Corner' Channel (you want TPI Podcast 27) and you can find it on Soundcloud at the link below. I hope you enjoy it and find it useful, Cheers, WD @wheeliedealer hTTps://soundcloud.com/user-479955511/conkers3-wheeliedealer-27-covid19-vaccine-hopes-azn-clin-ipf-vtu-auto-sfor-mpac-net
