12/8/2017 22:31 | Unfortunately China put the skids under commodity shares Friday with their assertion that there were speculators pushing steel prices above the underlying demand price for the stuff.Rio Tinto and BHP with their iron ore exposure got the biggest hit,but all across the commodity spectrum were affected.Gold miners were spared because of their safe haven credentials regarding the N.Korea situation, but Anglo American/Lonmin, with their pgm exposure, got nobbled as collateral damage.Hopefully the platinum price increase will reassert itself as a determining factor in the Lonmin share price, and the share price starts moving up again next week.Any further rand depreciation will also help Lonmin's cause immensely so let's hope for that too. However with the dollar down nearly 10% from its highs already this year,i'm not sure how much further it can realistically fall imho. | redbaron10 |
