03/5/2017 21:32 | Last year the company broke even when the rand was 14.8 to the dollar and platinum averaged 974 dollars. Right now we are 20% worse off. If this platinum price debacle does not quickly recover there is no chance the banks will allow them to draw on their facility without forcing the issue. Shareholders second again. | harry_david
03/5/2017 18:20 | Now that's an intelligent post. | redbaron10
03/5/2017 16:45 | Production report due on 15th May. H1 was released on May 16th last year, so not late. Surely anyone with such a significant 'interest' in this share would have known that!! | smithim1311
03/5/2017 15:38 | I think results are late, never a good sign in my experience, I expect at v best break even but I doubt it v v much. | pjm1162

02/5/2017 17:10 | Zuma ran into some major headwinds yesterday. Currency a bit firmer today. Interesting times. | harry_david
02/5/2017 15:59 | Thanks. They have been a lousy investment. Can't imagine what the misspelling issue can be; will have to investigate and look and see how much I am losing. They used to do so well that I had assumed they would recover in due course but not so sure now. | bouleversee
02/5/2017 14:27 | where do i start bouleversee? Results were in on estimates, but there has been some mis-selling regarding consumer protection laws that meant a provisional £30mill odd in exceptional costs for the financial year. But ladies apparel has been performing well with SimplyBe and the big bonus is that Tesco are going to be stocking N.Brown goods, plus they poached a head honcho off of Boohoo.Plus the stock had a Hold rating from Numis, plus a Buy rating from HSBC.All in all a result. | redbaron10
02/5/2017 14:05 | So what's going on with N.Brown? I hold in 2 places but haven't been keeping an eye on them. | bouleversee
02/5/2017 13:58 | harry_david been busy with my N.Brown holdings.See if anything happens on the US open here. | redbaron10
02/5/2017 08:11 | Redbaron, apologies Google insisted in changing your moniker! | harry_david
30/4/2017 18:55 | What intrigues me is how the money men in hedge funds have total control on precious metal prices. They know PMs are a proxy for currencies and they have rigid control now.Geopolitically it is quite a scary world with the Donald and N.Korea facing off,and yet the VIX (or fear index as it is called) is at multi year lows.Gold is around $1270oz and platinum $320oz cheaper.Nothing scares markets anymore. There is just no volatility about anywhere.Palladium on the other hand, because it has no investment value to really speak of,and its industrial use is in petrol car catalytic converters,we have seen a massive increase in demand and subsequently its price. The demand/supply economics are working in this market.Again look at the oil market. There is an oversupply, but oil speculators are taking advantage of the OPEC cuts in production to control the market and the price. It is an artificial market, pretty much like every commodity and asset because of quantitative easing.Investing and stock picking is becoming very difficult now.Meanwhile, there is talk of disruption and even civil war in S.Africa.Things can only get better! | redbaron10 |
