Looks cheap to me, with interest rates rises, debt recovery set to be a growth business..

Surprising that the price has dropped on this mornings report on the Cattles interest.
Perhaps it's because of the low takeover price that is being mooted.

Not a lot of views then!
Hope that Credit Suisse are on the ball with theirs.

5300 shares traded, not a lot as we are considered to be a takeover target.
The link to Credit Suisse in post 127 does appear quite definative on the situation.
Any further views from present holders?

London Scottish Bank is rumored to be a take over target by cattles.£1.60-£2.00 plus.£1.185 chart break out on to £1.40 and £1.12 support area and £1 level is support too.A screaming BUY at current prices. Not only are you near a chart break out ,but all so at any time the bid could come.

hi Omalaha
i think you have that about right there, I sold out a few days ago, did not get the timing quite right but I guess with divi's it was all about b/even. More the wish to just move onto something else, if there was nothing else I wanted to buy,
I would have held, odds on I think LSB still better than cash.
Will continue to watch and probably buy again if it drifts lower for no obvious reason.
I have not spent time looking at the figures, but if I was the Board I would have pulled all the stops to make the figures as good as possible, bad debt provision is not black and white. I would guess the underlying results were OK but stretched to be as good as reported.
Obviously I do no have a clue just guessing.
Good luck if your still holding. It stays on my watch list.

Not sure how the market will react to this ?
We will find out Monday and then interims on Tuesday, so it may be a little more interesting than of late but not sure it is going to be so good. They have basically seen the half year results and decided things have to be changed.
We may get someone else flushed out to make an offer, but not the best climate for this, market retrace and an experienced bunch have said no thanks.
Others speculative thoughts of how this may go short term, appreciated

See Promeathan have backed off and suggested a demerger of Robinson Way which the board are looking at together with expressions of interest from other parties.

Suggest value of reorganisation could be 141p including 40p in cash

just had a look on FT.com. It looks more like an article and it's subscription only. There's a two week free trial but i'm going on my hols next week so i wouldn't be able to cancel!

killie - i need to find out the extent of the FT comment. Presumably it's come from a rumour in the City. Imo it's probably Institutional gossip, but with some foundation; i reckon it's now generally accepted that LSB are an attractive target for numerous suitors and it's just a matter of time. Another interpretation would be that news, that the Promethean bid has failed, has leaked and the City think someonelse is bound to move in, in which case we should know quite soon. Mind you, i'm a terrible speculator!

Any truth in the rumour that Cattles may come in for LSB or are we just clutching at straws - value your opinion.

drectly - with the general carnage in the markets continuing yesterday, I forgot to get a copy of the FT! I just posted what was on the AFX Press Guide. LSB has held up well condsidering some of other rather nasty falls. I think LSB is a good bid play at the moment, I'm happy to hold. I've had to learnt a couple of hard lessons this week. fwiw: I noticed the falls among the oilers took no heed of fundamentals/valuations etc... they were mainly among those companies who had had big rises recently like, unfortunately for me, EEN/UEN. Both are now looking like v.attractive buys imo.

FT over here a bit light on detail regards UK companies, maybe if BP bought VOD, so no comment on Cattles here, was there any indication of substance or were they just reorting the rumour ?
If I value LSB in Dollars, BP or AHT shares then it is appreciating quite well
