Well, it's definitely trading in that channel again; from the chart we should hit 112p tomorrow, and if the pattern keeps repeating we'll be at 120p v.soon. Of course for anyone holding for the duration it's immaterial, but nice all the same.

drectly - had a look a BP myself after the rns this am. I see steady upside there but not exciting enough for me. Did I mention UEN to you? Took off today. I've been in awhile, there's good info on the thread and long term huge growth potential but not ISA friendly. Again, if you have the time, keep an eye on FAO, at some point soon it could almost double today's sp; even if you miss the initial spike you'll get a good return quickly. Don't buy just yet though!!

LSB: i've never had a stock in a bid situation so this is new to me, but i feel quite confident it will come off. btw the chart looks a winner, from the low of last autumn that's a great rising channel looking to go to 120p next. Of course that's also complete twaddle!! Have a good weekend.

thanks again Omalaha
just watching EEN at the moment. As I think I mentioned just 2 real holdings at present AHT and LSB, AHT bit restriced with capital gains at present (not been a problem for a while) plus looks like leaving them for a bit could be a good call. LSB your optimism confirms my view to hold for the moment.
Actually thinking of BP., not exactly small cap but the earnings are so good I see very little down side. cannot top up ISA this year when out of the country so would will take conservative approach and try and maintain value at worst, hence BP. AHT outside ISA so at appropriate time so this would be directed at higher risk stuff.
Will then play around with a couple of mining stocks very small scale.

Richmond Foods today reccomended shareholders accept Ruby's bid offer which is a 27% premium to the price on the day Rubys made their approach. Not bad. I doubt Promethean will go that far but 125p may not be unreasonable.

drectly - I was watching on l2 today, someone offloaded 25k shares at midday which did the damage. I suppose it could be someone taking profit from the recent rise and wanting the funds for another stock. Interestingly the MMs seemed happy to take it in one go; I watched someone dump 50k of PNT in 5k batches today because the MMs weren't keen. A successful bid is looking more likely than not imo so i'm happy to hold.
Did you get some EEN? I called tops on the recent spike 24hrs early but got back in yesterday @ 325p when it dipped. Good for 450-475p come september i reckon.

plenty of selling late today at 105 which is not a great sign
looks like we need some positive news on developments to avoid momentum building with the decline

thanks again for the feedback, looks positive from a distance. Not obvious why if they are moving ahead they did not aquire more closer to 1-00, but as a company no-one is probably authorised to just buy stock, they have to wait and go through their internal procedures. If it does go ahead quite impressed there is no obvious leak, which is what should happen.
normally the company aquiring has access to the dataroom to update their own estimated value, normally today's ebit and a bit of overhead removal thrown in to justify the numbers. Interesting because people can be giving info to people who may be their boss or a competitor in a few weeks.

i think the initial bid is made to formalise proceedings, after that any offer made in discussion/negociation can remain between the parties until a certain time. i've tried to read up on this stuff before but there are so many caveats etc.. that it's mindnumbing. looking v.good for 120p, poss 125p.

no, but would also like to
strange that they can indicate an increased offer but not give any details, would have thought they need pass on a better indication of what may have been offered to them ?

well, now we know where the support line is. snapped some up @ .99p. I thought it would maybe break the bottom of the rising channel but merely confirmed it. I would have thought it not unreasonable to expect an announcement next week.

Omalaha, thanks for the feedback
normally with this sort of thing they should be able to make a fairly quick assessment, not a situation where operations and reserves need visiting. My only slightly negative thought is a number of people will be involved, if it is going ahead they are keeping it very quiet.
It could be because it leaked in advance there is a three line whip to prevent leaks now ?
anyway, we continue to hold
noise around the investegation into companies of this type at the moment cannot help, even reached the FT over here, not specifically LSB but it all gets tared with the same brush.
this one is moving to fingers crossed for something to happen wich is not the best situation

drectly - I think the silence is positive. I don't know how long it takes for one company to analyse another's books. I would have thought LSB must be accepting of the 115p offer otherwise they would have said so before now. So, unless Promethean find something they don't like, I presume things will move on.
I have to confess to have messed up my EEN play this week. Having held in and out for a year I know the trading on that stock v.well. So I called tops at 330p and sold - big mistake. For once in it's life the darned thing bucked a trend!! You can see from the chart it's always dipping... oh well, it will still re-trace and i'll be back in but at a higher price than i'd thought.
KAH, worth watching,I don't hold but imo sometime towards summer it'll take off on news.

good luck on the Emerald dips this week, was a great call for me it is just keep watching. Will take a more detailed look at UEN and AEL, both look interesting.
any idea what is not hapening with LSB, could sell and move the price up, but it would be good after this time to make a bit out of it.
other holding Ashtead which I would not suggest buying now, the big gain gone but it does not look a sell for the moment.

btw - the EEN thread is one the best on ADFVN. My target is 375p on Syria drilling, 410p pre results and 500p+ if the wells flow. I'm adding more this week on the dips.

drectly - if want to go into oilers een/uen/ael are my holdings, they all make a profit and the well informed on ADFVN all have large holdings. PANR is v.interesting but overbought at the moment imo. If you fancy some high risk/reward watch FAO. You will have to keep a v.close eye on it as it could double on news which is expected v.soon. It could also drop heavily so buying before an rns carries big risk. Interesting week for LSB i feel.

Good call on Emerald, got as far as adding it to my monitor; was planing to go from LSB back to Oil. Did OK with Shell and was planing to go back to SHEL or maybe BP, but probably missed a good opportunity for a while. Needed something safeish as the other half of my portfolio not safe but doing OK.
What chance the 115 in the next few weeks?
No chartist either, not sure we can read much into the trend as it is heavily distorted by the potential t/o.
Will get out if another spike up, but otherwise will continue holding, do not see other obvious value at the moment.
Dollar short v Chinese currency a good option but a bit sophisticated for me.

drectly - i think the smart money moved into this months ago and they've probably sold out in chunks (20k+) over the last fortnight so as not to spook the MMs. That's not to say the story's over, far from i; any decent trader will still have a holding. I sold at 113p and bought back under 108p and will buy more on any dips because LSB are the type of company that will always have suitors.
btw - i'm no chartist but the six month chart has a definite rising trend channel and it suggests a move north.

good point, this all seemed well leaked or good guess work by some. Once they have realised what they are likely to get, move on with a useful profit. No reason for anyone to make a quick move for the shares, just let them drift a bit lower to get acceptance of 115 or something very slightly better from someone else.
Sounds like we will both continue to wait and see for the moment.

drectly - i agree about the risk reward. i've got a feeling another bidder is waiting to see how LSB react to the first offer. i suppose there are many holding at a profit from the recent rises and impatience and doubt take hold so they sell out.

the decline is a little disapointing, obviously the 115 is not a done deal. If it does not go through then I guess we are back to about 85p so risk reward, +10 v -20 with no other interest, retrace understandable.
Continue holding, these normally come out at the potential offer, plus still a chance of something a bit better
