Has anybody heard how things are progressing and when we are likely to get some news?

meanm,

In your opinion what sort of news you expecting...disposal or full offer for the company?

It was there. Probably still to be filled. If you look at the volume of sells and the fact the the bid price has not fallen you can see it exists.

Million share buying order been placed. Forget Cattles!

cyclingnut..probably three quarters of the companies quoted on the LSE could snap this lot up "in a heartbeat". Cattles ran for the hills in Feb 2007 and there's absolutely no indication of them coming back. Or are you hinting you know something we don't.....

I am NOT suggesting this is on the cards.

But, lsb HAS a banking license. If it were to be bought by anyone, it can become a wholy owned subsidiary WITH a banking license.
So, no, the banking license is not sold, it remains with lsb which is part of cattles (in this example).

A banking licence cannot just be sold like that! The buyer needs to still be assessed.

city girl,

CTT has the financial clout to snap up LSB in a heartbeat....thus getting a banking license thrown in and a nice decent business which needs some capital assistance....CTT IMHO could sort them out easily....but then again...so could another big player....

not suggesting they are involved, and even if they were it would be a completely different approach.
However, I do think that cattles could buy a banking license much cheaper by buying lsb..
Just interesting.

I'm not sure that an interest from early 2007 has much relevance now does it? The balance sheet of LSB has changed out of all recognition since then and we all know what's happened to the market over the last year. They got cold feet last time (didn't like what they saw on due diligence?) so why would there be an appetite for a deal now?

john,

good point....and to come back and offer LSB 30P a share would be a bargain for them!

presumably he means the cattles deal from a year or so ago.

must say it would seem to make sense to me for cattles to 'buy' a banking license via buying lsb rather than spend 200M+ on it's own.

appologies if this has been covered before here.

£45m is a total per the situation then, but LSB has made moves since - capital demands are lower after diposals plus those in themselves raised capital. Further disposals will reduce the situation further.

All this is public domain so the £45m is already priced into the share price so any outcome which proves better will be a huge positive for the sp

I don't discount at current pricing a bidder soaking up LSB, question is would management rec an offer lower than 30p? imho probably why nothing is on the table yet as the bidder may only be talking 15/20

all imho
