21/2/2019 10:06 | "m4 - an excellent post that really covered the waterfront." Well, could have been. "And anyone who doesn't filter 'M' needs their ...." I question his beliefs on freedom of speech. He is certainly a pseudo-communist because comments like that come straight out of China. | minerve
21/2/2019 10:05 | diku (think you) Yesterday you asked about bull/bear at the same time. Well, premiums are still settling post results but writing a straddle today would give north of 15% pa yield. I have the bull positions in place but will wait a while for the bearish side. | alphorn

21/2/2019 09:54 | Goldie - I am quite happy to talk about Lloyds share price and issues affecting it, as I did yesterday. But I occasionally, perhaps too often get dragged into the political debate. FWIW I am a left-wing Labour supporter and a Remainer. Not sure even that position is tenable. JC wants out really. EG I am anti Israel foreign policy but don't feel this is in itself is anti-Semitic. On the ISIS girl, I believe we will have to follow international law and if that means accepting her back then she will have to face consequences of her actions. I was amazed J R-M shares this view! The reason I responded as I did, was to offer balance to your view. I believe we will "leave" EU but hopefully not under May's "deal" or with "no deal". I am concerned about people losing their jobs (even if only in the short term) if we crash out. I would not like to be "collateral damage", so don't think anyone else should be either. Leavers are just as guilty of clogging up the thread. Finally, I believe we should have stayed in and worked for change. With a possible ally in Germany, we could have dictated (poor word but ...) the course of the EUs future and to our advantage. Cameron's half-hearted effort to try and get a few concessions was never going to work. It is a long game. I do agree there are plenty of bores on here; many of which I have filtered. And anyone who doesn't filter 'M' needs their .... My interests and hobbies are: ... Cheers MU | m4rtinu

21/2/2019 09:09 | So goldie, ok for right wing leavers to post drivel then? Anyone not a Republican is a Communist? m4..I am not a Republican, I am not even right wing. Quite amazing how you are straight out defending those who are ruining this thread. I don't know your politics and I don't believe any of your posts fall into the catergory I included. However, it doesn't matter, I am frankly bored with it all, the thread has been trashed, if you can't see it, hard cheese old boy! | goldfinger16
21/2/2019 09:09 | janekane #7090: Agree, though Soubry must know she is unlikely to get re-elected. Suspect she's living the moment, enjoying the limelight and stuff what the leave voting majority of her constituents who gave her the stage think. Good riddance. | cheshire pete

21/2/2019 08:41 | The so called BACKSTOP is just a diversion. That is how the EU always works. They come up with some extreme move that is removed at the last moment as a huge 'concession' to give the impression they are being good guys after all. When you look behind the diversion, you see that they have obtained agreement to other even more outrageous terms. In this case the ridiculous Draft Agreement commits the UK to other huge £ billion payments which will be made up by the EU as they go along. That is on top of the huge £39 billion bung to the EU for an unspecified ongoing relationship. There are also other oppressive terms as have been listed previously on this BB. Leaving with no deal is not an option. It is a fact. May's Draft Agreement is not a deal. It is just a huge capitulation which locks the UK into Tusk's EU HELL. Any MP who votes YES to May's betrayal is barking mad. | willoicc

21/2/2019 07:43 | “They are cursuses of the ancient Britons, long before the Romans came hither. I mean the first aborigines Brittons in heroic ages, when the Druids first began; before the Gaulish nations came over, somewhat above Csesar’s time; those Brittons that made the mighty works of Abury, Stonehenge, &c.” – W Stuckley, 1 September 1736 The need to heal divides is not unique to our age. On acceding to the throne in 1558, Elizabeth I faced an England riven by the divisions brought about by the Henrician Reformation of the 1530’s.
