Like I said - post modernist tripe. Tell it to the Israelis, the Ukrainians and the birds. Or better still tell Putin and the rest. They are being naughty and someone is going to get hurt please stop being violent and we now have open borders. How do windbag Jessie's propose to defend a place - I suppose the Falklands would have been too much hassle man? Give me the Israeli and probably Chinese approach to defence any day over that of the Jessie's. Britain is an exemplary case. Right bang on

Starting tomorrow US, Australian and Canadian visitors will be required to have a visa or an ETA (Electronic Travel Authorization) permit to enter the UK, pay their own hotel bills and have travel insurance, unless that is if they travel by balloon boat!

He broke the Catholic choke hold in western Europe. His laudable message was of such interest that literaracy in Britain increased exponentially, no longer the preserve of the lorded classes. A crucial turn of events without which the British Empire would not have been possible imo. Musks failed love interests with Taylor Swift and others are obviously as a result of being regarded as an historicaly religious figure being the patron saint of technology..the parallels between Musk & Luther are obvious.

31AMBorrowing costs surge to highest level since 1998The cost of long-term government borrowing has surged to its highest level since 1998 as interest rates are expected to fall at a slower pace this year. The yield on 30-year UK bonds - known as gilts - has risen above 5.2pc today for the first time in more than a quarter of a century. It comes as the Bank of England is only expected to cut rates twice this year in response to persistent inflation, which rose for the second month in a row to 2.6pc in November.Interest rates were cut only twice last year, compared to expectations at the start of 2024 of as many as six reductions. This has put pressure on mortgage rates, which have risen to an average of 5.47pc today for a two-year fixed deal, making it more difficult for buyers to afford a home.

I agree diku. It was easy to see without faffing about. Seems a bit odd. I've been using the site for over 25 years - why change - I can't see how it will generate much income. Just detracts from the boards imo.2.30 jump again. Affects my stocks every day - it's an algo

The real reason the US are involved in so many wars is because of internal vested interests. A war diverts attention away from woefully ineffective internal institutions and bureaucracy. Musk has been charged with reform he really is a contemporary Martin Luther.

Call me out there but I'd much rather have a leader whos prepared to put live or die by their beliefs rather than a charlatan like Starmer who's intentions only become apparent after he lied and cheated his way into a position where he can act upon them.
