Mosques won't get used Scruff, they've all converted to Chrisianity mate. There will still be a need for infrastructure investment though, village greens & halls will have to be extended to accommodate greater numbers expected for things like Easter egg hunts morris dancing, WI/ jam making events. Russian forces repel over 20 Ukrainian counterattacks at LPR borders over week

LUGANSK, August 12. /TASS/. Russian forces repelled more than 20 attempts by the Ukrainian army to penetrate the territory of the Lugansk People’s Republic (LPR), eliminating over 9,000 enemy troops and foreign mercenaries in the past week, military expert Andrey Marochko told TASS on Monday.

"Here is an analysis of the special military operation at the LPR borders over the past week. On August 3-9, 2024, units of the Battlegroups North, South and West repelled 23 enemy counterattacks: a considerable decline in the enemy’s activity is observed. In the reporting period, Ukraine’s armed formations lost about 9,150 Ukrainian militants and mercenaries," the expert said.

Over the reporting period, Russian troops also destroyed 19 tanks of the Ukrainian army, including two German-made Leopard tanks, 125 field artillery guns, two Buk-M1 surface-to-air missile systems, 20 electronic warfare and counterbattery radar stations, 31 field ammunition depots and 270 various combat vehicles, he specified.

No talks with Kiev after attack on civilians – Putin

The Russian president has condemned Ukraine’s indiscriminate strikes and attempts to target nuclear power facilities amid the Kursk incursion

Any peace talks with Ukraine are impossible as long as it conducts strikes on civilian populations and threatens nuclear power plants, Russian President Vladimir Putin has said.

Speaking at a meeting with senior officials on Monday, Putin addressed Ukraine’s recent incursion into the border region of Kursk, as well as a drone strike that damaged Russia’s Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant.

He suggested that Ukraine’s most recent actions show why it has refused to revisit plans to settle the conflict based on either on a Russian proposal, or roadmaps presented by neutral parties.

Apparently, the enemy, relying on the help of its Western masters… is striving to improve its negotiating positions in the future. But how can we talk about negotiations with those who conduct indiscriminate strikes on civilians, civilian infrastructure, or try to threaten nuclear energy facilities?

Putin went on to say that one of Kiev’s main goals in Kursk is to divert attention from Donbass, where Russian forces have been steadily gaining ground in recent months. “But what are the results? The pace of offensive operations… not only have not slowed down, but on the contrary increased by one and a half times.”

By striking into Kursk Region, Ukraine also sought to undermine the morale of the Russian population, but also achieved contrary results, Putin said, noting an increased stream of volunteers to join the military and defend the border.

Moscow’s main goal at this stage is to drive back the Ukrainian forces from Russian territory. “The enemy will receive a worthy response. All of our goals will undoubtedly be achieved.”

Ukraine launched an attack on Kursk Region last week, the largest cross-border assault since the outbreak of the conflict, with media reports suggesting that the offensive involved some of Kiev’s best-equipped brigades. While Ukrainian forces made some gains, the Russian Defense Ministry said the advance had been halted. The Russian military has estimated Kiev’s losses at around 1,600 troops and 200 armored vehicles.

On Sunday, Moscow accused Kiev of launching a drone attack on Russia’s Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant, which damaged one of its cooling towers.

imo it's getting more and more common for investors to take cash out of companies either the days just before ex dividend or soon after once the divi drop is recovered.

I've been doing it this last two years because at my age I don't like dead cash and with a solid company like lloyds there's often no driver other than divi or takeover.

Battlegroup Center takes more advantageous positions in 24 hours
Over the past 24 hours, units of the Battlegroup Center of the Russian armed forces have taken more advantageous positions and defeated units of five Ukrainian brigades, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"Units of the Battlegroup Center have taken more advantageous positions and defeated units of the 31st, 32nd, 100th, 117th Mechanized Brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces and the 14th National Guard Brigade in the areas of the settlements of Vozdvizhenka, Toretsk, Grodovka and Mirolyubovka of the Donetsk People's Republic," the report says.

Units of the Battlegroup Dnepr hit units of two brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces in one day, the total losses of the enemy in the Battlegroup’s area of responsibility amounted to 70 servicemen, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"Units of the Battlegroup Dnepr inflicted losses on the formations of the 41st infantry and 44th airmobile brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces in the areas of the settlements of Orekhov and Novodanilovka in the Zaporozye region. The Ukrainian armed forces lost more than 70 servicemen, 14 vehicles, a US-made 155-mm howitzer M777, a US-made counter-battery radar station AN/TPQ-50 and an electronic warfare station Anklav," the report says. The ministry noted that three ammunition depots were also destroyed.

Over the past 24 hours, Russian military personnel inflicted defeat on the manpower of two brigades of the Ukrainian Armed Forces (UAF) in the Volchansk and Liptsy directions in the Kharkov region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"Units of the Battlegroup North in the Volchansk and Liptsy directions defeated the manpower and equipment of the 22nd mechanized and 82nd airborne assault brigades of the Ukrainian armed forces in the areas of the settlements of Odnorobovka and Kazachya Lopan in the Kharkov region. The enemy's losses amounted to 190 servicemen," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian armed forces also lost two tanks, an infantry fighting vehicle, an armored personnel carrier, seven armored combat vehicles, two cars, a Croatian-made 122-mm RAK-SA-12 multiple launch rocket system, and three 122-mm D-30 howitzers. An ammunition depot was destroyed.

The Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 520 servicemen, one tank and two warehouses in the area of responsibility of Russia’s Battlegroup West in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

The ministry reported that the group's units had took more advantageous lines and positions, and defeated the units of three Ukrainian brigades in the areas of Makeyevka, Stelmakhovka in the People’s Republic of Lugansk and Torskoye in the People’s Republic of Donetsk.

"Over the past 24 hours, two counterattacks by assault groups of the 1st National Guard Brigade have been repelled. The enemy has lost over 520 servicemen, a tank, two Kozak combat armored vehicles, and five cars. During the counter-battery fire, a UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, a UK-made 152-mm D-20 gun, two 122-mm D-30 howitzers, a 105-mm L-119 howitzer, as well as a US-made AN/TPQ-36 counter-battery radar station were destroyed. In addition, two Khortytsia and Nota electronic warfare stations, as well as two ammunition depots, were destroyed," the ministry said.

The Ukrainian armed forces lost up to 385 personnel and two ammunition depots in the area of responsibility of the Russian Battlegroup South in the past 24 hours, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

According to the ministry, the battlegroup’s units improved their tactical position, defeated the manpower and equipment of the 150th Mechanized, 10th Mountain Assault Brigades and the 114th Territorial Defense Brigade in the areas of Rozovka, Pereyezdnoye and Kirov of the Donetsk People's Republic.

"The Ukrainian Armed Forces lost up to 385 servicemen, an infantry fighting vehicle and three vehicles. During the counter-battery battle, the following weapons were damaged: a UK-made 155-mm FH-70 howitzer, a US-made 155-mm M198 howitzer, two 152-mm D-20 guns, a 152-mm Msta-B howitzer, a 122-mm Gvozdika self-propelled artillery unit, a US-made 105-mm M119 gun, and an electronic warfare station. Two ammunition depots were destroyed," the ministry said.

"Tactical aviation, unmanned aerial vehicles, missile troops and artillery of the groups of the Russian armed forces hit three launchers and destroyed an AN/MPQ-65 radar station of a US-made Patriot air defense missile system. In addition, an ammunition depot of the tactical group Donetsk and concentrations of enemy manpower and military equipment in 156 districts were hit," the ministry said.

"Units of the Battlegroup East have improved their position along the forward edge and defeated the manpower and equipment of the 72nd Mechanized Brigade of the Ukrainian armed forces and the 129th Defense Brigade in the areas of the settlements of Vodyanoye and Novoocheretovatoye of the Donetsk People's Republic," the report says.

Russian forces hit 3 launchers, destroy Patriot radar in Sumy region
Russian military hit three launchers and destroyed a Patriot anti-aircraft missile system radar near Lebedyn in the Sumy region, the Russian Defense Ministry reported.

"A strike from an Iskander-M missile system destroyed a self-propelled launcher of the Buk-M1 anti-aircraft missile system near Lyubimovka. Three launchers were hit and an AN/MPQ-65 radar station of the US-made Patriot anti-aircraft missile system was destroyed near the city of Lebedyn, Sumy region," the ministry said.

Air defenses shot down four Ukrainian Tochka-U missiles and 15 HIMARS munitions over the past day, the Russian Defense Ministry said.

“Air defenses shot down the following targets: four tactical missiles Tochka-U, a French-made guided aerial bomb Hammer, 15 rockets fired from US-made HIMARS and Czech-made Vampire systems, and 71 drones, with 30 of them being outside the area of the special military operation,” the ministry said in a statement.

Since the start of the special military operation, the Russian Armed Forces have destroyed a total of 637 Ukrainian warplanes, 278 helicopters, 29,731 unmanned aerial vehicles, 566 surface-to-air missile systems, 17,029 tanks and other armored combat vehicles, 1,400 multiple launch rocket systems, 13,113 field artillery guns and mortars and 24,624 special military motor vehicles.

Sir Keir Starmer is right to condemn the recent violence. We do too, unequivocally. “Crime is crime, no matter the cause or motivation.” We agree. Unlawful behaviour and criminality remain just that, whatever issue or ideology the perpetrators attach themselves to. However, it’s also critically important that our Prime Minister and his ministers don’t take the events of the past couple of weeks as the opportunity to shut down debate about immigration and squash the deep concerns of millions of British people, some of whom sought to make clear how they felt with peaceful protest only to find themselves caught up in violent disorder and tarred with the ‘far-rightR17; brush. As Camilla Tominey wrote in her Daily Telegraph column this week: “Ever the lawyer, the Prime Minister has treated the unrest we have witnessed across these broken isles as a case to be prosecuted rather than a problem to be solved.”

In a four-minute video on ‘X’, the “politically non-binary satirist”, straight-speaking and courageous Konstantin Kisin thought what has been going on went beyond Sir Keir Starmer. Do watch, Mr Kisin puts in a nutshell the problem we face as a country - uncontrolled, mass immigration and a failure to integrate too many of those who have come here.

As for how most people perceive the violent disorder and how the government has dealt with it, according to new data, while only 8% of Brits express any sympathy for the violence seen in the recent protests, a notable 58% show support for the peaceful participants. This figure includes nearly two-thirds of Conservative voters and 83% of Reform party supporters, indicating a broad base of sympathy for those protesting peacefully and widespread rejection of violence.

YouGov also reveals that 42% of Britons believe the peaceful protests are "completely" or "somewhat" justified, with support rising among Conservative (53%) and Reform (84%) voters.

MW concerns remain the out-of-control immigration – legal and illegal and the government’s seeming laissez faire approach to it. As things are, millions of migrants will continue to arrive in the coming decades, millions will be added to our population, which will continue to see unprecedented growth deriving almost entirely from migrants and children born to them.

The government appear unconcerned by the potential harmful effects that legal and illegal immigration will have on our economy, the cohesion of our society and on our ability to integrate those who come. Does it matter? I suppose not, if you are of the view that the steady demographic transformation to a population to one where the majority now will be the minority within the next forty years or so. Fact is, millions of people don’t want this to happen. And they don’t believe that to harbour such views is in any way extreme. Most people are happy with measured, necessary immigration that serves the interests of British citizens. Net migration of no more than 100,000 a year, and preferably significantly less, has to be the government’s ultimate goal.
