16/7/2024 10:25 | I see a Federal Judge in the US has dismissed the criminal case regarding classified documents against Donald Trump. "Washington — The federal judge overseeing the case alleging former President Donald Trump mishandled sensitive government documents after leaving the White House has dismissed the charges against him and his two codefendants. U.S. District Judge Aileen Cannon said in a 93-page order that she has granted Trump's bid to dismiss the indictment based on the unlawful funding and appointment of special counsel Jack Smith, who brought the charges against the former president." | ![]() hardup1

16/7/2024 08:21 | Yes, the changing face of our city centres with the relaxation of planning to incorporate a change of use from commercial to domestic is Interesting. Derby's castle ward being a good example, which will be further enhanced with a new Eden type project slap bang in the city centre. Lloyds to capitalise by turning disused offices into residential developments I note in the news today. Perhaps Tim Martin should hang onto some of these Spoons he's looking to off load? | utrickytrees
16/7/2024 08:18 | They stopped business class flights at the company I last worked for in the UK, most employee's refused to travel, opting instead for VC meetings. Next they limited hotels to 3*...people started leaving. There needs to be some perks and jollys when doing dull jobs in big co's or people move on. It's a recipe to lose talent. | ![]() jordaggy
16/7/2024 07:50 | Lloyds limits staff travel as it cuts costs Lloyds Banking Group PLC (LSE:LLOY) is tightening the use of taxis and business class flights for its staff as part of a cost-cutting drive. The UK lender will alter these travel policies across its 60,000-strong workforce to control expenses and reduce its carbon footprint. According to a memo sent by Nick Laird, Lloyds' chief operating officer, business class flights are now restricted to international journeys over six hours. The memo also states that domestic flights should be avoided, and taxis should only be booked when no other viable or safe method of transportation is available. Lloyds has also introduced new guidelines for train travel, limiting first-class tickets to trips over three hours or when they are the lowest available fare. These changes are part of the bank’s broader £4 billion strategic overhaul aimed at diversifying its income streams away from mortgages towards wealth management and insurance. "As we grow and expand our business . . . it’s important that we also keep a tight grip on our costs — particularly where our personal choices have a great impact," Laird said. A Lloyds spokesperson added: "We look for every opportunity to maintain industry-leading cost management and strategic focus, alongside supporting the Group’s net zero ambitions, as we work hard every day to enable our customers to realise their financial ambitions." This initiative follows a similar policy implemented by HSBC, which also seeks to reduce travel expenses as part of a wider cost-saving strategy. | ![]() freddie01
