Trade figures show just how wrong Project Fear really was

Our exports to the European Union would collapse. There would be shortages of fresh vegetables at Tesco and Sainsbury’s. Factories would close as supply chains seized up, and we would be plunged into a deep recession.

Rewind a couple of years, and "trade experts" of one sort or another were unanimous that leaving the single market would inflict catastrophic damage on the British economy. But hold on - trade data out on Friday shows that not only were those predictions wrong, but wrong on a scale that has seldom been witnessed before.



No surprise. These ridiculous forecasts were brought to us by the same people as forecast it would be a catastrophe not to join the Euro.

I found cookies very forcible and annoying so I walk away from the site. I always find another way to the news. Very sad, (another idiot manager) Southgate following the old formula with the national team.. my money is, they will be out on the next round.

scruff, cookies are nothing to do with the EU. Even I won't try and blame them for that! But the little popup notices ARE an EU thing - and given the answer is fairly certain to be, yes, I'll accept the cookies because otherwise I can't look at the bloody website, they are totally pointless.

As to that idiot Southgate, he's just a stupid man virtue signalling.

A new rail pass and vouchers for tourist attractions are part of a plan to return domestic tourism to pre-pandemic levels next year.

The £10m voucher scheme will be launched by The National Lottery this autumn to encourage people to travel within the UK after the peak summer season.

Players will have the chance to claim vouchers for tourist attractions in the UK between September this year and March 2022.

The rail pass will be launched later this year and will be based on the BritRail pass, which is sold to international tourists and gives them flexible travel across the country, as well as discounted entry to attractions.

The EU is about to get a taste of its own medicine. The grace period ends shortly, and the UK will be checking EU exporters paperwork. This too will cause EU exports to us to fall. 3.A third reason will be the competition arising from RoW suppliers, who we are now finding out about as the EU protectionist tariff wall has been removed. I think I agree Gecko, Brexit is the best thing to happen to this country since Mrs Thatcher.

But I wish we could see some of the concrete benefits that are now available to us. For instance, an end to those damfool popups saying "this site uses cookies, do you approve" - a typical piece of idiotic EU job creation.
