My comment from Liam halligan tele posting
Let America spend big - they cant afford it and we are in Carey Street.

What is the point of paying people more - because they are on Universal credit-

They will never be a recovery in anything but garbage collection.

Throw more money at NHS - FGS - just lost in Exec salaries.

The world has been shown to be quite incapable of the governance required in any matter. Biden says this is democracy - no m8 - the perspective is just an utter lie - we may not like China - but it doesnt stop the buying of huge amounts of products from them - whilst suggesting the countries that have poor labour standards will not get trade deals.

A balanced budget is the only critical factor in any company - and that has to apply to GOVT.

yes this Govt has totally ignored the ppl who voted it in!
Even Corbyn would have been astounded by the cash give aways to all and sundry.
BJ u get more unpopular by the minute. thinking honest Joe is ur m8.

as I have said b4 - u have not the qualities required as a PM - honesty, decency - for u have lied and lied about a great trade with EU. Treason should be guillotined but u need to suffer a more painful experience normally afforded to over acting dogs.

Also if it's not the Guardian etc it's far-right. If you're not left-wing nowadays you're automatically branded far-right.

bobdiamond. I must agree with your take on this thread as of the moment. It used to be a good thread, pre-Trump, pre-far right nuts, pre-idiots, I am a conservative and Brexit voter but there are some on here who frankly come across as extreme.

I used to enjoy my little spats with bargain bob, ladeside, ace, Minerve, Alphorn, jacko...where have they all gone to.

Shame, this crowd with the far right rubbish isn't even entertaining.

m2: "And the U.K. disintegrates to rejoin the EU."

Why do you hate the Union so much that you wish for this outcome m2?

Scots would never choose to leave the Union to join an EU in decline. Wouldn't make sense and they wouldn't back the losing team just to please Sturgeon.

Oh yes and perhaps the most illiterate of all poster on this thread 'STONED YOU'..this moron and his asterisks appeared here one day and just like a dose of 'THRUSH' became the most irritating 'c*nt' ever.

But give him a pat on the back for posting an article on the far right nutter Sidney Powell whose whole reputation was debunked as a fraud, a liar, a 'fantasist' and turns out she's a he under the dress.

Stoned, did someone at your drag Queen night recommend Sidney as you dream boat.

stoned phew..filtered.

Press releaseNew Turing scheme to support thousands of students to study and work abroadA new £100 million scheme for students to study and work abroad will replace the UK's participation in Erasmus+.Published 26 December 2020From:Department for Education and The Rt Hon Gavin Williamson CBE MP?Thousands of students will be able to study and do work placements across the world through a brand new scheme that replaces the UK's participation in Erasmus+.The Turing scheme will be backed by over £100 million, providing funding for around 35,000 students in universities, colleges and schools to go on placements and exchanges overseas, starting in September 2021.The new scheme will also target students from disadvantaged backgrounds and areas which did not previously have many students benefiting from Erasmus+, making life-changing opportunities accessible to everyone across the country. The programme will provide similar opportunities for students to study and work abroad as the Erasmus+ programme but it will include countries across the world and aims to deliver greater value for money to taxpayers. The UK will reap the rewards from the investment, by boosting students' skills and prospects, benefitting UK employers, and supporting Global Britain's ties with international partners.Education Secretary Gavin Williamson said:We now have the chance to expand opportunities to study abroad and see more students from all backgrounds benefit from the experience. We have designed a truly international scheme which is focused on our priorities, delivers real value for money and forms an important part of our promise to level up the United Kingdom. These opportunities will benefit both our students and our employers, as well as strengthening our ties with partners across the world.UK organisations will be invited to bid into the scheme in early 2021. Successful applications will receive funding for administering the scheme and students taking part will receive grants to help them with the costs of their international experience. The benefits of the exchanges to schools and colleges will be assessed and the learnings used to build on future schemes. Funding decisions for subsequent years will be subject to future spending reviews. To meet delivery timescales, universities, colleges and schools are encouraged to begin preparation with international partners as soon as possible.Universities UK International Director, Vivienne Stern, said:Evidence shows that students who have international experience tend to do better academically and in employment, and the benefits are greatest for those who are least advantaged. The new Turing scheme is a fantastic development and will provide global opportunities for up to 35,000 UK students to study and work abroad.International Education Champion, Sir Steve Smith, said:As the International Education Champion, I'm pleased to see that the govt is committed to international exchanges. So much of what makes education so rewarding for all is the chance for students and learners in schools, colleges and universities experience new cultures and, by doing so, develop new skills. This scheme represents a sizeable investment from the Government and I look forward to working with the Government to develop a scheme that will make real our commitment to Global Britain.Share this page

Utricky

Failure to commit to Erasmus is actually going to cost us about £200m per year.

Universities will lose significant income too as a result.

If we are going to be “Global Britain” we need to export things others don’t have.

Unless you want to export the cheapest labour we need to maintain ‘competitive advantage’ on ideas. That means having top universities and liquidity of communication between business and those universities.

When you’ve caught up with me on this one we can continue the conversation. ;)
