27/3/2020 11:55 | Post-Brexit talks in 'deep freeze' Planned negotiating rounds on the UK’s future relationship with the EU have been abandoned as a result of the coronavirus pandemic, with Boris Johnson’s government still to table a comprehensive legal text for both sides to work on. During a European commission briefing on Thursday, envoys for the EU capitals were told that holding negotiations via video-conferencing had so far proved impossible. The two sides are trying to find a way to maintain dialogue in the coming weeks and months to kickstart the talks, but preparation, have been ditched because of the unfolding crisis. The fact that the UK was still to table a legal text added an extra layer of difficulty, EU sources said. The European commission published a 441-page draft treaty on 13 March that covers every aspect of the future relationship. Despite Downing Street’s public insistence that a similarly comprehensive text would be tabled earlier this month, EU sources said the UK had tabled only four documents covering trade, transport, aviation and nuclear cooperation. London has not tabled legal text on significant issues including security cooperation or fisheries, and nor has it made its texts public. | smartypants

27/3/2020 11:37 | How convenient to get away from all the questions and all the scrutiny. Boris says "you're on your own gammons!" A ventilator will be waiting for him with top medical care but will it be waiting for YOU! You will be lucky if they even take you to hospital. You will die prematurely in your own home because of Tory austerity/government over the last decade. | minerve 2

27/3/2020 11:20 | Oh dear...and I had a realy good feeling about it! Novartis CEO: Too soon to say if malaria drug helps COVID-19 Chief executive officer of Novartis Vas Narasimhan cast doubt on Friday whether anti-malaria drugs could be an effective treatment for the coronavirus. "With hydroxychloroquine, what we know is in pre-clinical studies, the drug is quite active against the coronavirus but these are, of course, not in human beings - not in patients." "I do think it is too soon to know for sure until we have properly controlled randomized studies. We hope over the next 18 months to two years, we can come back with a vaccine that will ultimately be the definitive way to deal with this pandemic." "not in human beings"..well thats good news for some of you posters The chimps are doing great!! | smartypants

27/3/2020 11:17 | I think Lloyds is strong enough to weather Covid 19. Who knows though? We could have Covid-21 and Covid-22 round the corner... You wait a hundred years for a pandemic then three come along altogether, wouldn't that be something? Still, if that happens what's the point of anything? My only regret would be not investing in some sort of anarchy-proofed bunker up a mountain somewhere. | fovargue
27/3/2020 11:17 | Stonedyou must still in bed... I don't heard him shouting this morning... yet. | k38 |
