15/1/2020 21:12 | CTR - Your suggestion would have exactly the same effect as continuation of PPI. Personal thoughts are we need to stop fudging it and get a strong banking sector behind us with rates where they ought to be, but, I suppose that is politically unacceptable. | ![]() ianood
15/1/2020 19:59 | kind of missing the point in a few places. If climate change was real, we wouldn't be trying to stimulate demand. Other point is, if we are comfortable with what we have, and we keep being told our pensions are underfunded, if we have more money, where is it going to go? | ![]() ekuuleus
15/1/2020 19:42 | Economy , as measured by GDP, appears to be almost flat. Interest rate cut is to stimulate growth, but like others, not sure it will work. What I can't understand is, when unemployment is so low, why inflation is so low. Government appear to want to kick-start economy by encouraging borrowing. Also, by increasing spending by government itself. | ![]() m4rtinu
15/1/2020 18:24 | Good post's. Personally if I had more money due to an interest rate cut I would put it into my sipp not spend it! | ![]() gaffer73

15/1/2020 17:45 | "Mr.elbee - as an economist please can you explain to me why, with inflation falling, anyone would look to cut interest rates?" Easy, growth is stagnant as the recent GDP figures showed. Inflation is benign, so lower rates in an effort to boost consumption, and thereby boost economic growth... It's that or print more money.. Agree with rates so low it's pointless. Better to just cancel Foreign Aid, end EU payments, cancel HS2 and give every adult in the country earning less than £30,000 per year £5 grand. | crossing_the_rubicon

15/1/2020 17:27 | I didn't notice any bootlegging when locals and clubs closed at 11PM and 2AM respectively. Nottingham does not need 1000 licences in a square mile. | ![]() minerve 2

15/1/2020 17:12 | hawaly - in a normal climate I concur, however rates at the mom are on the floor therefore, a further cut is of no real benefit to borrowers and probably injurious to the banks. | ![]() ianood
15/1/2020 17:01 | Cheaper borrowing stimulates demand - The BoE has an inflation target of 2% "All things being equal", higher demand, when the supply curve remains constant, leads to higher prices A low inflation rate can depress demand ... individuals feel less pressure to purchase if an item will be the same (or even lower) price in the future. | ![]() hawaly
15/1/2020 16:50 | Mr.elbee - as an economist please can you explain to me why, with inflation falling, anyone would look to cut interest rates? | ![]() ianood
15/1/2020 16:46 | "someone rushing into hospital with a sliced jugular" not possible! except it the fantasy world of Min! Rushed to A&E on a stretcher is feasible! Now why does that solution of prohibition to stop the misuse of A&E submitted by self proclaimed genius Min have no substance? Because it would waste police time to enforce, start bootlegging again, add an illicit liquid to the menu of dealers, only obtainable from Cuckooing bases and send more knife crime victims to A&E. | gotnorolex
15/1/2020 16:40 | Just bought a few more as at this low price and yield they are good value. If they go lower they will be even better value!! | ![]() chessman2

15/1/2020 16:07 | Xxxxxy Farage was lambasted by the fkin lefties for daring to suggest that foreigners with aids shouldn't be treated by the NHS. Then you've got the doctor fronting the BMA suggesting the NHS should be free to all irrespective of nationality. Without controls the NHS will self destruct its already a bottomless money pit. People need to understand that the N in the acronym stands for NATIONAL. Great idea to deduct treatment costs from the foreign aid budget. | utrickytrees
15/1/2020 16:06 | Yes, we need to discuss your investments Jacko. A bit pedestrian, no? Give me 20 minutes, I'm just popping down to the pound shop in my 2015 Range Rover. ;) | ![]() minerve 2

15/1/2020 15:49 | jacko07 I had PFG and Capita and sold out of both at a loss. Having said that you don't know what my buy in price was and so you have no idea what the losses were. I am happy to say they didn't have any material affect on my finances whatsoever. I have lost more on individual stocks. £400K on one back in the noughties. So PFG and CPI losses were chump change. LOL They remained on my watchlist. Yes I am recouping my losses thank you. Carillion I have never owned. WPCT sold out at c114p. | ![]() minerve 2
15/1/2020 15:42 | According to Nigel Farage, the Leave Means Leave group confirmed they had obtained a licence from the Greater London Assembly to hold a "celebration" in Parliament Square on January 31. However, whether or not Big Ben will ring has yet to be confirmed. Daily express | ![]() xxxxxy |
