Interesting tactic from Lammy and Reeves.
UK flexing its muscles and hoping to scare Trump on trade.
What are these idiots up to?
Provoking Trump is not the way forward.

Trump seems to loath the EU. and China when it comes to trade.

Some say it is yet another Brexit thing, Trump is for closer ties with the UK and wants to crush the Eu.
Some saw the Brexit thing as a choice between the EU. and America.

Could it be that this apparently useless Labour lot have decided to fall out with capitalist America and get close to socialist EU. or am I giving them too much credit for strategic thinking?

John Redwood@johnredwoodFollowInstead of planning tariffs and carbon taxes on the USA the U.K. government should offer President Trump a win/win free trade and mutual investment deal.

Headline in DT
Labour’s total ignorance of the reality of a farmer’s life will undoubtedly lead to mass protest
Sounds like a few on here.
Heres a thing
I went into the local groundwork/landscaping depot today. Asked for some heavy duty staples. Bloke says what are they. I thought funny cos its that sort of shop. I said its for fixing sheep fencing to stakes. He said oh are they like u shaped nails? Is it me or is that weird. I have never heard staples described as u shaped nails - ever in my life. Is it a sign of our de industrialised/iphone obsessed society or are people just thick?

apologies for the last post freddie. I have the threads crossed. Generally try to keep that stuff off this and all other threads.

It would be nice to have at least one thread that just kept on topic Lloyds.

There are numerous other threads to discuss politics. It gets a bit tedious every single thread that you open.

No offence to anyone.

True hardup. Especially (for me) HFEL, MNG & PHNX and am sorely tempted at current prices (I was in mng at 160 and phnx at 470 so still on the right side) but am feeling a tad punchy after the last few weeks and this govt I fear hasn't a clue what it's doing apart it's seemingly destructive communist agenda. I really am worried about the next 5 years.

scruff.....frustrating I know but you are getting a reasonable income by way of dividends whilst you wait for better days.

Tricky -- you and your mate should read the Independent front page - you will have to translate for him cos its in English. You also should explain to him that in England keeping a goat and a couple of chickens in the back yard is not classed as farming.(although it may be after RR IHT) And also point out to him that his back alley is neither a public tip nor a slaughter house - at least not til uncle Abdul is the PM

I have very high proportion of port, BP, LGEN, TRIG and Lloy at present (perhaps not so sensible), there for the income, but been a few rough weeks. I guess delayed lowering of interest debt the issue, still think with the amount of debt Gov has, rates have to be got lower. Inflation mainly just energy costs, not much the Gov does has any real impact, so I think we just need more patience and we get well rewarded with divis while we wait. Good luck

I first got in after the crash around 35p. Was going gangbusters and committed my usual sin. Got greedy and chased it up. Bought my last tranche around 72p - cant even remember how long ago but it aint been close since. Was just beginning to see the cavalry the other week then the bloody car finance fiasco broke followed up for desserts by Reeve's ruddy budget. Back to sleep. Be a good stock for Rip van Winkle.
With this and BP I feel like someones picking on me. Ive been trying to get out of BP for quite some time but its only gone one way for months. Its like being caught in a fast flowing current - it wont let me swim, Im just being swept along and bashed on the rocks

I'll tell you what Im thinking about Reform/Farage Ace. They havent mentioned the crowd funding case against the M/c Airport thugs for quite some time. It may be that its following due process. But if they have dropped it and buried it without comment then they will imo be no better than the other politicos - all talk and no action (something no one can accuse Trump of being) and will have lost my vote. Would simply be frying pan into the fire

You know the saddest bit?

We ended up with Raquel and The Stumbler because the other lot had no ideas beyond stopping a few dinghies and feathering their own nests.

I voted for it because I couldn't stomach the other lot any longer. No matter what you say, Farage and his little band were and are not ready but perhaps my mind just needs to be bolder? We'll see but I don't think Trump II will turn out very well despite The Clever People doing a somersault on Wednesday morning.
