What about the mental health of people seeking this information?...

The Home Office has rejected a freedom of information request into the costs of leather sofas and flat-screen TVs for asylum seeker flats in Farnborough on the grounds that revealing the details might affect their “mental health” and put their “health and safety at risk”.

About time these old gits died and let the banking system move on...

UK banks have agreed to open 350 “banking hubs” by the end of the parliament, following a meeting with City minister Tulip Siddiq today.

These hubs will offer services like paying in cheques, cash depositing and face-to-face conversations with a Community Banker.

The commitment will see around 230 hubs delivered by the end of 2025, with a further 120 rolled out by the end of the Parliament, according to the Treasury. The banks have also agreed to consider having printers in its hubs, to help people print off statements or documents.

Before the election, Labour pledged to open ‘at least’ 350 banking hubs over next Parliament, to help customers who have lost their local branch.

City Minister Tulip Siddiq says today:

“Banking hubs are a lifeline for local communities that have lost their final bank branch. I’m confident that the banks will deliver on the commitment made today, as well as take a more active approach to meeting the needs of local communities.”

This should be the 60p mark now. Nothing is going to happen though until it becomes clearer what Starmer is going to impose on the banks.

8:40AMBank of England to roll out new rules aimed at avoiding future bank bailoutsThe Bank of England aims to roll out revised new rules on how much capital UK banks must set aside to cope with future crises, as it juggles efforts to shock-proof lenders without hurting their global commercial interests. In a speech published today, the regulatory arm of the Bank said it would make "substantial amendments" to several earlier proposed "Basel" bank capital reforms in response to consultation and evidence. The changes outlined today will come into force on January 1, 2026, instead of on July 1.Financial regulators crafted the Basel III rules after the 2007-2009 global banking crisis forced taxpayers to bail out several banks. The bulk of the Basel package is already in force across major lenders, with some remaining elements still to be implemented into national rulebooks.Phil Evans, director of prudential policy, said: "In terms of the capital impact, we think there will only be a very small impact on requirements, on average, across UK firms."...Daily Telegraph

Labour annihilating the middle class and snuffing out social mobility for disciplined aspiring working families ! To what ends?
To keep them trapped in the working class demographic where their votes are assured!
Punish those who cut their coats in their earning years to preserve living standards in retirement & lavish wasters with pension credits, WFAs and benefits, for not paying minimum NI during their pre retirement years guaranteeing them free places in eventide homes!

"Labour’s “bogus black hole is falling to pieces” because the Treasury cannot provide key details on the £22bn funding gap, Jeremy Hunt has warned.

The Treasury rejected a Freedom of Information Request, stating officials need more time to ensure the figures are “accurate”.

But Mr Hunt, the Shadow Chancellor, seized on the admission and declared “this fictitious black hole is purely of Labour’s own making”.

Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer and Chancellor Rachel Reeves are using the £22bn departmental overspend to justify axing the winter fuel allowance and looming tax hikes.

But a large portion - £9.4bn – was incurred by the Chancellor herself by offering public sector workers inflation-busting pay rises."

How does anyone find out whats happening? It seems that increasingly the public are being denied access to information. These are very worrying times.
Someone was asking why energy prices are so high. They arent actually - its the standard charges that have gone through the roof - they are to pay for the net zero levy for short life span inefficient and intermittent windmills and solar panels and the £250m of electricity we import each month because we have shut all coal and nuclear stations that are able to generate for 24/7. Extract from Apple News The independent article ‘ Rachel Reeves, who announced the controversial cut to Winter Fuel Payments in July, has claimed £4,400 since she was elected an MP in 2010. In the last five years alone, the figure was £3,700, analysis from The Telegraph shows.’
Absolutely unbelievable hypocrisy- - an average over the past five years of over £700 a year - and she is one of many labour MPs making such claims whilst stealing £300 from pensioners- you really couldn’t make it up !

Bloody Adventure In Kursk Region Coming To Its End

Support SouthFront

Bloody adventure of the Armed Forces of Ukraine in the Russian Kursk region is probably coming to its end. On September 10, the Russian military launched a series of successful counterattacks. By the morning of September 11, about a dozen settlements came back under the full Russian control.

The Russian army took control of dozens of square kilometers on the western flank of the Ukrainian grouping operating on the Russian territory. Snagost, Apanasovka, Gordeevka and other settlements were liberated. The Armed Forces of Ukraine retreated from the outskirts of Korenevo and withdrew from Olgovka. Russian landed in Obukhovka. Ukrainian forces fled from the village and it was mopped up.

Ukrainian defense collapsed very fast. Since the Ukrainian offensive was mainly launched by small mobilized groups and the transfer of large forces to the Russian region was complicated by heavy strikes, Ukrainian forces failed to reinforce their positions in the captured settlements on the flanks.

Russian counterattacks result in escape of the Ukrainian army. Ukrainian soldiers abandon military equipment and corps of their dead comrades. Many Ukrainian groups were surrounded and destroyed. Dozens of Ukrainian units surrendered.

Moreover, the direction of Russian counter-offensive is threatening the entire Ukrainian grouping in the Kursk region with a large cauldron. Russian forces are now rapidly advancing along the state border. They are only 15 kilometers from the road to Sudzha, the largest settlement and the main stronghold under Ukrainian control. The main supply route to Ukrainian forces risk to be cut off soon.

At the same time, the Ukrainian military lost any initiative in other directions. Fleeing on the northwestern flank, Ukrainian forces are embroiled in counter battles around Sudzha. Ukrainian attacks are repelled near Malaya Loknya, Martynovka, Borki.

The Ukrainian military command has no time to hesitate. Rather they send additional reinforcement, weakening defense in other directions in the Donbass, or they risk losing the large grouping on the Russian land.

Another Kyiv’s victory is turning into a strategic defeat. Both Russian and Western military experts compare Ukrainian incursion in the Kursk region to the failed counteroffensive on the southern Zaporozhie front last year, as well as to the senseless battle for the foothold in Krinky on the Russian bank of the Dnieper River. Large Ukrainian reserves were tolled into a trap where they are grinded. Demoralized, exhausted Ukrainian soldiers again do not understand the goals of the risky operations. The reason is that the Kyiv regime and its NATO partners are set not to defend their population but to send as many Ukrainians as possible into a slaughter of the prolonged war against Russia.

'Asylum seekers are trying to force the Home Office to give them new homes with upgraded facilities in better locations than the "shared" lodgings being provided.

Claims believed to be sometimes funded by taxpayers through Legal Aid are making their way to the High Court where top judges consider if they should be moved or not'

Yes I do think the Banks will get a good shafting in the budget. There's a medium sized UK town population of immigrants created every 12 months. Its not my choice to allow this but this is very expensive as it requires schools, hospitals, and all the expensive social infrastructure one would expect and those with the broadest shoulders must bear the most weight.
