28/10/2020 08:59 | We don't know what we don't know. Let's wait and see, and in the meantime all right-minded people will be taking all the precautions governments have been advising since early Spring. If we/they did, the situation right now would be pretty good with economies looking much healthier. | ![]() poikka

28/10/2020 08:40 | Live Latest coronavirus news: Vaccine is 'likely to be imperfect' and 'might not prevent infection', warns head of UK task force Global Health Security Team 28 OCTOBER 2020 • 8:19AM The first generation of Covid-19 vaccines "is likely to be imperfect" and "might not work for everyone", the chair of the UK Vaccine Taskforce has said. No vaccine in the history of medicine "has been as eagerly anticipated" and it is "widely regarded as the only true exit strategy from the pandemic", Kate Bingham wrote in The Lancet. However, she cautioned against over-optimism and that any vaccine might not work for everyone, or for very long. "We do not know that we will ever have a vaccine at all," she wrote. "It is important to guard against complacency and over-optimism. "The first generation of vaccines is likely to be imperfect, and we should be prepared that they might not prevent infection but rather reduce symptoms, and, even then, might not work for everyone or for long." | ![]() maxk

We are all liars now, apparently. The CBI fought tooth and nail to soften Brexit until it was nothing; they were not misrepresented as opposing and undermining the country's democratic choice, that's exactly what they did, until Boris was elected and they saw the writing on the wall.... 28/10/2020 07:35 | John Redwood @johnredwood The CBI has a long record of recommending damaging EU economic policies to the U.K, starting with the Exchange Rate Mechanism which caused a deep recession and continuing with support for policies causing the banking crash. The new cases may be hitting new highs but the death rate seems to have levelled off somewhat. Not that I'm trying to put a 'positive spin' on this terrible disease. Just calling it like I see it. The world figures for both cases and deaths continue to grow. Stay safe...dont bath with a friend. | ![]() mitchy
