18/9/2020 18:55 | Gecko, I understand the principle and FYI I don't agree with the philosophy of Nationalisation. It was said 'tongue in cheek'. Shareholders own a well funded bank, the bank is told by the BoE not to pay dividends to shareholders and the Chancellor orders Banks to award Loans to businesses (even though many of which are unviable businesses even in the best of times) and then dismisses a call from banks to Government for help in recouping the loans. Who the f... owns the bank? It is ours. It's the same philosophy as someone coming into your home and telling you that they are commandeering it and "oh by the way if it gets damaged whilst it's in our charge, your shareholders can pay for it" ( aka loans) | ![]() newbank
18/9/2020 18:42 | Newbank Post 12106 "If Banks were told not to pay dividends, ie not to pay an income to its owners, isn't that the same as Nationalising the Bank for zero compensation?" NO. Have you lost your principal that nationalisation would entail??? NO. So no nationalisation. | ![]() geckotheglorious

18/9/2020 18:32 | Sometimes you question yourself, whose running this country, the government or BBC..... | k38
18/9/2020 18:26 | careful More pathetic by the day u need the BBC - nobody else does - not true some believe u. Objective journalism was the presentation of facts. facts per se. The BBC is about itself - presenting its facts as it can - excluding what it wants to - so subjective - bit like ur love of Germany - remember? | ![]() jl5006
18/9/2020 18:20 | As I posted before How many ppl with science backgrounds can demonstrate that they have a proven theory - yet we are surrounded by experts in science - SAGE who would not be able to put a balance sheet together. BJ stop this - who is dying and u want to be provider of the anti death vaccine- get real - these are not good ppl OK | ![]() jl5006
18/9/2020 18:17 | You must support the BBC and BT. It would trouble me to let Murdoch take total control. Murdoch would love to kill of the BBC and BT as they are his competitors and something he cannot influence. He has politicians here and America in his pocket. They dare not fall out with him. Fox News always supports Trump with its biased reporting. Murdoch was critical to getting Trump elected. He was critical for winding up the gullible British public about Brexit. He hates the EU. because he has no influence there. He is a foreigner who influences our elections. We need the BBC even if we do not always agree with it. | ![]() careful

18/9/2020 16:44 | A very poor close, down at the auction to the lowest close in years. 25.24p. Not the time to buy. I repeat, if 25p is lost, the next support is around 21p. | ![]() polar fox
18/9/2020 16:31 | £75 pm but we are being offered half price forever due to providing land for the network cables. Unlimited data also. It is their top home package which they will upgrade for the duration. I think telephone to follow but haven't looked into it. | ![]() patientcapital
18/9/2020 16:26 | Negative interest rates.......surely that means that, when Lloyds borrows of the Bank of England, Lloyds get paid to do so ? Obviously, such reverse interest wouldn't be passed on to borrowing clients as they are all at base + X%. So margins should remain constant ?? | ![]() dexdringle
18/9/2020 16:23 | At the end of a week that has seen significant announcements from central banks – including evidence yesterday that the Bank of England was considering implementing negative interest rates for the first time – banks also declined again. Barclays (BARC) fell 1.7% to 98.9p, Lloyds (LLOY) declined 1.7% to 25.8p and NatWest Group (NWG), formerly trading as RBS, was down 1.6% to 98.4p. | ![]() loganair
18/9/2020 16:07 | We have had BT installing FTTP in the area during lockdown. Some of my neighbours have 350mbs lines. Unless you are running a business _server_ from your premises, or use a static IP address to access storage at your home, or are a family who want to sit and watch 4K TVs all in your own seperate rooms, 350mbs is not needed. ATM it is overkill for most. My line roughly averages 20mbs and we can stream Amazon Prime movies in HD whilst simulataneously streaming YouTube. If you are not careful you could end-up paying £30/£40 a month over and above what you need to. | ![]() minerve 2
