15/9/2020 15:10 | 1:27pmEU to extend access to London clearing houses FTThe European Commission is preparing to offer banks an 18-month extension on their access to UK-based clearing house, the FT reports. The paper says:The European Commission has proposed to governments that access to UK-based clearing houses which sit between deals and prevent defaults from ricocheting through the rest of the market should remain undisturbed until the middle of 2022, according to two people briefed on the draft plans.Brussels' position reflects London's pre-eminence in the market for clearing euro-denominated derivatives, and suggests that financial services are a point of leverage for the UK in increasingly strained trade negotiations with the EU. | ![]() xxxxxy

15/9/2020 14:42 | By the way 'pity' has one p and one t with an i and a y, you should have learned to spell, long ago! If that's all you have on me then that's fine. '75p by Christmas' wouldn't have bought me the English book I need. LOL! | ![]() minerve 2

15/9/2020 14:21 | Well engineered? The Mini had the first popular transverse engine, an astonishing piece of engineering! And without wishing to discuss the whole history of British motoring, the Maxi was a remarkable thing in its day, a time before the invention of the hatchback. Both vehicles show the application of ingenuity to make less do more - the opposite of these light trucks posing as cars which are the modern mini. | ![]() grahamite2

15/9/2020 14:03 | You make a good point about the new BMW mini. Reliable, comfortable, well engineered, not at all like the original. We used to love our mini's...opening the door by pulling on that cord. yuk... following the other great cars, the Maxi and Allegro (all aggro) What you a pining for is are not those dreadful cars but your lost youth. | ![]() careful
15/9/2020 13:56 | 'Merkel and her EU empire.' xxxxxx ect dig up so much propaganda for simpletons. Basil Faulty used to say 'Don't mention the war'. These clowns writing the above article think that if you mention Markel or Germany that their case for Brexit is won. We have many friends in Germany that regret us leaving. There are many UK citizens who admire Germans and Germany. It makes me realise that you have never worked with them, known any of them. They are my kind od people. It never bothers me that our Royal Family are of German decent. Kith and Kin. | ![]() careful
15/9/2020 13:54 | I'd sooner live under the EU jackboot than buy one of those horrible new minis! They are everything the real mini was not; there is not a trace of the spirit of the original in these monstrosities. | ![]() grahamite2
15/9/2020 13:50 | IAN GILL15 Sep 2020 12:50PMEveryone can help. I have ordered a new MINI for my wife. Yes, I know the profits go to BMW, but it will be assembled in Cowley, thus supporting UK workers. Please, before you spend the money on a foreign built car or whatever, can you see if you could possible do as I have.... 15/9/2020 13:33 | I have been US bred in wanting to calculate risks and celebrate success. 'Win some and win some more' was one of our phrases. Many on this thread would be happy trading with Sheffield and perhaps exporting to the Isle of Wight. That is not a strategy that will succeed. | ![]() alphorn
15/9/2020 13:26 | Hi jacko, Brexit of course will happen, the outcome will be fascinating. I posted years back - more interesting than any soap. Domestic companies must not turn in on themselves at this point to have any form of success. Several big domestics are now doing that a la Lloyds as you can see around the threads. Barclaycard looks as though heading domestic as it pulls out of countries next month. There should be a push for more exports not the reverse. Bad news. | ![]() alphorn

15/9/2020 13:22 | Paul Wusteman15 Sep 2020 1:05PMAh Bless! The issue before Parliament now is the invasive control that the WA gives the EU over UK policy, totally incompatible with UK sovereignty and the expressed democratic will of the British people to leave the EU.And what does the EU immediately do?Of course, it helpfully provides an example of the EU undertaking invasive control that the WA gives the EU over UK policy, totally incompatible with UK sovereignty and the expressed democratic will of the British people to leave the EU.The EU people aren't only cult members, they are unbelievably crass and stupid with it.Colin Martin15 Sep 2020 1:07PM@Paul WustemanThis is the perfect example of what Treason May tried to saddle us with. She might yet have her way........Paul Wusteman15 Sep 2020 1:12PM@Colin Martin @Paul WustemanIf this article is correct, I think the EU have blown it big-time, by actually needlessly providing an example of what the WA means. Without needing to study the details, the EU message is - follow what we want you to do or we will restrict internal trade in the UK.I don't see how the Tory MP Remainers can answer this. It's deselection/end-of-c | ![]() xxxxxy
