I tend to agree with that assessment, if a tad pessimistic. However I might take issue with the term European " Friends" !

The High Street isn't going to recover anytime soon, Local Council Income is Every Council's priority so ever increasing Parking and Council Tax prices are here to stay.

Labour leadership latest: Momentum promises to 'mobilise thousands' for Rebecca Long-Bailey after members overwhelmingly back her

Harry Yorke, political correspondent Amy Jones, political correspondent Danielle Sheridan, political correspondent
16 JANUARY 2020 • 7:01PM

Labour leadership candidate Rebecca Long-Bailey has received a major boost after Momentum confirmed it would throw its weight behind her following a ballot of members.

Promising to "mobilise thousands" to campaign on behalf of the shadow business secretary, the pro-Corbyn campaign group revealed that more than 70 percent of respondents to its survey had backed her.

The decision will provide Ms Long-Bailey, a close ally of Jeremy Corbyn, with a significant advantage and enable her to call on Momentum's army of canvassers.

She is also likely to be given access to its extensive campaign database, while rival candidates are forced to wait until later in the contest before behind handed official party data on members....

0% interest rates have done little for Europe or Japan"

This alone tells you how dire the financial situation is..

We are overly indebted, living well beyond our means...

And at some point it will be time to pay!

Awful retail numbers = greater chance of rate cut = lower Lloyds share price

mitchy, If there's something else looking promising I don't need a huge profit to precipitate sell off, so part of my holding can be gone in the same week.
As for share price time scale I'm expecting to see the best short term price in the run up to the next divi date, hopefully 63-65p.

Long term imo One's approach to this game is very much age related, at my age the chance of enjoying a Long Term investment is growing less & less with each passing year, moreover I don't Need the money that I have invested so I don't have the stress that many investors have to deal with so I have no Long Term Target.

I said many moons ago, Lloyds won't steadily rise until 2021 at the earliest...and that's providing we negotiate a good deal with our European friends.

gbh2 - so what's your strategy going to be when the share price goes into a nice profit on your last trade ?Do you take some off the table, reducing your exposure, or let it ride? At some point lloy may actually start to make some long lasting headway once Brexit and ppi claims are finally dealt with. Todays price is cheap for a reason but I don't expect it to stay at these levels (or lower) for much longer. Just my opinion and am genuinely interested in knowing yours and others thoughts on the subject. What sort of time scale are we looking at before we can see the start of some long term gains ?

In a tweet posted Wednesday, precious metals consultant and analyst Dan Popescu shared a picture of a long line of people waiting in front of “Degussa store to buy gold in Köln.” Popescu described, “From Jan. 1, 2020, the limit to buy gold anonymously drops from €10,000 down to €2,000. Only two years ago the limit was €15,000.”; One user posted his own photo and replied “This is me line at Degussa in 23rd. The employees said they haven’t seen anything like it before.” To give an idea of the relatively small amount of gold €2,000 (~$2,224) can buy, even a 50g gold bar is currently too expensive.

"Why limit people's ability to hold gold anonymously...

So when the house of cards collapses, as it inevitably will, they know who to come to and for how much!!!!!!!!"
