'I am very worried given the little time we have,' Ms von der Leyen told France's

Les Echos newspaper in an interview published today.

She's right to be worried as after end of January when we leave, Boris can fast track deals elsewhere including with countries that can compete with EU producers selling to UK. Can't see these producers watching idly from side lines while one of their main markets disappears. If they want a trade deal with us the EU will have to get their skates on and not dawdle like they did for 7 years with Canada.

As the new £20 note comes out on the 20th Feb when in Europe if you prefer to take cash should one wait for the new note?

I prefer to exchange abroad as have always got a better rate.

I'm away on the 6th March.

A most enjoyable article by Charles Moore suggesting we bring back English measurements, the royal yacht, the assizes, proper counties and so on.

You can't have free trade without free movement! Why not?
You can't have free trade without adopting the Euro! Yes we have!
You can't have free trade without EU jurisdiction! Why not?
You can't have access to EU criminal data! We have Interpol!
You can't have trade without custom border checks! We have advanced RFID!
Now what more dost thou object to Ursula von EU?

jacko - that is not what I meant and I am sure that you knew that.

'Want' and how to achieve it are two very separate thought processes.

Alp..Britain knows what it wants, the GE showed that ordinary Brits know they do not want to be on a sinking ship.

Whatever anybody thinks, we will survive!!

I agree maxk leon..Brussels is the home of out of control bureaucracy, Michel Barnier and several thousand highly paid bureaucrats are now looking forward to years of a fat salary sorting out what would be fairly simple to a couple of hardened business moguls.

Why does it take so long for bureaucrats to work out an amicable trade deal, because so many of them have no business acumen. Never forget what Farage said to an almost full Brussels Parliament back in 2016.

Here is the link and in two minutes portrays a lot of what is wrong with Europe. It is a basket case, we are far better off out of it!
