Re Eire, they'd be better off pulling out of the EU, too. That would solve the backstop nicely, thank you.

If we stay, extension for 2 years, will cost UK taxpayers near to 100 billion. Some claim no deal will damage our economy..DO THE MATHS..Invest 100 billion in the economy for the next 4 years, deals will kick , new investment, more jobs. Germany in recession, France the same, Italy's economy in trouble, as for the rest of Europe let's not talk about them.Britis in a better place than Europe. With surplus 3 billion and 100 million think what you can do !!

I have never been more determined to boycot German goods. Bye bye Audi and BMW, I used to like your cars but now I only see oppression when I look at them.

Boycott Merkels document.

Thank you for explaining the “backstop̶1; so very simply. I have not seen anyone do it that simply before and now, I think, at last I understand the problem quite clearly.

Two enormous questions need to be asked:

1. Is a hard Brexit really that bad?

2. The Joint Committee will handle all disagreements within Britain if the Withdrawal Treaty imposed by the EU – and accepted by the Prime Minister – comes to pass. Who will be sitting on it? The EU has Guy Verhofstadt who is a leading member of the Spinelli Group and who gets very angry about things, seems to be a leading figure in Brexit on the continent. M. Barnier would expect to be on the joint committee too. So would Sabine Weyand who has been his strong support throughout the negotiations. There were rumours too that Martin Selmayr, M. Juncker’s eminence grise, would chair the committee.
The court of referral of disputes is, of course, the EUCJ.

If this guesswork is correct, the Withdrawal agreement is literally selling our country out to our enemies.

Any new referendum should have two parts. Brexit or no brexit. If brexit, Mays deal or no deal or don't care.

only way forward is to let the people decide on (1) leave no deal (2) leave with the May/EU deal OR rescind Article 50 and remain
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Classic remainer scam eh? Divide and conquer? Or do you mean the total vote for 1+2 v 3. That is why another referendum won't solve anything.

Relief for the next three years of constant EU tax/regulatory/legal pressure?

I somehow think that even the thick corporate suits have woken up to the fact that all options are bad but WTO is best. And remaining is worst of all.

I was and continue to be a remainer . However I respect the referendum outcome but firmly believe no deal would be disasterous economically for at least a number of years to come. IMHO, on the premise that we leave, surely the majority of both remainers and brexiteers would prefer to see a properly structured deal. It is nonsensical to suggest ANYONE at the referendum date truly understood the complexities and critical points on either side of the equation - as an example in all the pros and cons pre referendum who actually even thought or mentioned the Irish border complication - perhaps the best example of the complete inadequacy of any real information to help voters make a genuinely informed decision either way. There is not one politician of any political persuasion who has come out of this with any credibility. The issue has divided political parties and far,far worse divided the nation. As our elected MPs have shown time and time again they are incapable of effective leadership and compromise in the best interest of the UK then, sadly, I now believe the only way forward is to let the people decide on (1) leave no deal (2) leave with the May/EU deal OR rescind Article 50 and remain. A lengthy extension without any clearly defined agreed outcome will only serve to worsen the division Brexit has caused within families, communities, regions and countries of the UK.we have become the laughing stock of the westernised democracies - and indeed I truly wonder if our democracy in its current format can even survive.
