18/10/2023 16:35 | Well dodged a few bullets today FOMO is over riding factor on failure to go lower plus the 9% dividend now on offer Am content to sit back and await developments Not quite 9 percent for me but close so no worries | jubberjim
18/10/2023 09:59 | ok thanks Happy enough to sit on sidelines looking to buy on any dip here But the market is dire and like to have a capital reserve to hand as still think we are due a correction but dividend will sustain for time being Still my go to share but not much going on here there or anywhere good luck and thanks | jubberjim
18/10/2023 09:18 | Jubberjim, last year LGEN gave a trading update on 18/11, but from my memory they do not routinely fix this inside their calendar, more they react to certain situations in the market or share price and release better than expected news (at least in last 5 years)GLA | tornado12
18/10/2023 08:00 | ok seen mar 06 2024 but thought that like aviva maybe a trading update in the interim maybe in next few weeks will leave it pending any announcemens Not expecting much in this very nervy market so will sit it out thanks | jubberjim
18/10/2023 07:55 | Yes, as Skinny says, it's easy-for LGEN at least-to go to the link supplied in the header of this very thread you are writing on. For ABDN, the link is in the header of the thread there too DLG too. Other threads may be the same, those are just the ones I started | cwa1
18/10/2023 06:56 | ok will have another look wasn t getting anywhere hence the question But will try again | jubberjim
18/10/2023 06:53 | A good place to start is the company's financial calendar - in the case of LGEN, there is a link in the header. | skinny

17/10/2023 10:47 | This charts looking poor. | pander45
16/10/2023 22:47 | I think it may have been in the Telegraph a few weeks back that they reckoned even a max holder of PB's would likely have to wait something like 70 (seventy!) years on average to win even a 10,000 prize.Puts the risk of holding lgen in a bit better perspective :-) | pete160
16/10/2023 22:18 | Anhar, I originally started buying pbs when i was paying a lot of tax. The combination of security, tax free prizes, and the gambling bit of fun were the reasons. While the average return is 4.65%, the expected return isn't, even with the max holding. By far most holder will get noticeably less than 4.65%, with a very small number of lucky ones getting much more. Before the recent 50k, our biggest win was 500 quid about 25 years ago ... had 2 or 3 100 quids, and usually every month have a mix of a few 25s and a few less 50s (between us). Up to now, I've rarely got the results on the 1st of the month, but looking at the upcoming dates, about half are on the first. Unless Alexa has been lying to me (who tells the date of the next results, and the prizes you've won) most used to be the 2nd or 3rd. Also, the winning sound from Alexa is much more jazzy for a big prize than the standard winning tune. Incidentally, you really have to prove who you are, where you live and other things which prove you're totally legit before paying out a big prize. Anyone bending any rules won't get paid I bet. | pierre oreilly
16/10/2023 11:45 | PBs' 11. No wins. Holding this dog too! 229 & 217. | dudishes
16/10/2023 11:26 | I hold the max too, for just over two years now, and the best month for me since holding the full allocation is £200. For 2023 so far my winnings stand at £1,275. I am happy to take the gamble on getting something really worthwhile at some point but should I no longer have a regular pay packet, based on my own personal history with Premium bonds, I would most likely move the majority of this money to a more secured return. Good luck all 👍🏻 | tuftymatt
16/10/2023 11:20 | Just re-read Pierre's post. Pierre, shortly after midnight of the first of a month - providing that is a Mon-Thu, you can access the new month's Prize Checker. When I was in the US on holiday earlier this year, the 5 hour difference allowed me to check on Tuesday, 3rd Oct at about 19:05 if I'd won. The 1st Oct was a Sunday so the first working day was the 2nd Oct. Wife despairs of me :-) | mcunliffe1
16/10/2023 11:19 | PoR: Looks like you hold jointly £100,000 of PBs. Current prize fund interest rate is 4.65% so your expected return is £4,650pa. It's not exactly that owing to the math of the distribution of prizes but good enough here for maximum holders. If you alternatively could obtain interest as you say of £6,000pa, then your net expected return is £1,350 negative pa. So why do people buy large amounts of, and maxed out, PBs? The answer is for the chance of winning much more than the current 4.65%, the negative expected net return is the cost of that gamble if you like. The chances of winning serious money are seriously small. Overwhelmingly, PB holders even maxers, will never see such wins. So you have been outstandingly lucky to have won £50,000. Maxers should consider themselves fortunate to have merely won the average expected payout over the years because a large number will have underperformed even that. None of which has anything to do with LGEN, where we can expect to receive about 9%, though with capital (and divis) at risk. | anhar
16/10/2023 08:37 | I've never thought of myself as a gambler but I'm gambling 500 quid a month on premium bonds, quite an eye opener. That assumes I could get 6% on our cash. Usual payout the last 3months is 200/300. Tax free so like a 500quid taxed income. Did have a 50k win 6 months ago, first decent win in donkeys' years of holding the max. All in all, adds a bit of excitement to the 3rd of the month. | pierre oreilly
15/10/2023 11:31 | Thanks Eurofox, in fact I have been reading about this option in the last weeks with interest and will consider. However, since also there is now the option to add further to my pension, I am putting more of my gross income here. Plus , as I like gambling in S&S, I am building up my maximum stake in premium bonds. But thanks for the tip 👍 GLA | tornado12
15/10/2023 11:12 | you could invest outside ISA/SIPP almost tax free by buying very low (approaching zero) interest gilts where the majority of the interest to maturity is earned by capital growth which for gilts is tax free - its what I am doing outside my ISA/SIPP framework | eurofox
15/10/2023 11:07 | Marksp, perhaps the case , but mine are wrapped in a tax free ISA from last several years and avoid the tax. Since I am ultra high tax payer it makes no sense for me to invest outside the ISA. Tax is the thing I hate the most and do not invest anything liable for tax. I lose >40% of any gains making it hardly worth the effort. | tornado12
15/10/2023 10:36 | tornado So slightly worse than a global high yield bond fund then :) eg JHYP | marksp2011 |
