30/9/2023 11:43 | Apathy Spud. About 12-15 months ago I setup blind trusts for my three grandkids. These are with A J Bell. They are quite small nut will grow - the funds likewise :-) I elected to re-invest the divi's as it seemed a wise move at the time. However, as the divi's are themselves quite modest often they fall below the min. threshold for reinvesting with AJB. My own SIPP also has auto re-invest with ii. Post 3686 from Dope007 raised a wise point - one that I've encountered a few times in the past days - diversification. My plan (such as it is) has always been to be a long-term holder, look for yield, re-invest and grow my SIPP in that manner rather than research the next 'miracle' stock and look for share price growth. I've insufficient knowledge and ability to seek the latter route. So, apathy kicks in and I end up re-investing. I'm still 60/40 in cash/shares in my SIPP so currently feel I'm playing safe although not diversified enough in the share side. | mcunliffe1
30/9/2023 11:11 | I can't recall ever reinvesting a dividend into the paying company (at least not immediately after receipt) and simply can't understand the rationale of those that do. spud | spud
30/9/2023 11:10 | Checked this morning Barclays still not credited divi. | piwood
30/9/2023 09:43 | If only folks understood the motives of those blue avatars and their threads Ron! There origins might help I like a story to explain it lol. In 1974 a group of remedial crack head army cadets were convicted of a crime they most definitely committed sentenced to life in a mental facility for the insane they promptly escaped and many years later still wanted by the government they survive on a financial website. If your anal lack ability like being a dictator love censorship like paying monthly subscriptions love the colour blue and have a thumb fetish you could join the team. If you need help deciding contact the “R” team,wac-,spuds,fatt DISCLAIMER All characters events and places are purely fictional and any resemblance to past or current events are purely coincidental. | 123trev
30/9/2023 09:21 | Dope007 Exactly! I'm here thanks to my CSN divi. | wynterwilde
30/9/2023 08:57 | I tend to use the dividend payments to diversify further | dope007
29/9/2023 21:07 | Trev can you put me forward as your surrogate for thumbs Dow. Generally speaking more people read the posts that are thumbed down. Counter productive but useful. | rongetsrich
29/9/2023 21:04 | I suspect he may soon regret opening up a cage for the city dozen! An odd character that loves his authority and power. Must be missing elsewhere in his life. | rongetsrich
29/9/2023 17:06 | Good point sarkasm, as usual! | dudishes
29/9/2023 16:58 | In my view is take a divi and then decide whether theres a better investment out there THERES NO HURRY THESE DAYS | sarkasm
29/9/2023 16:50 | I never auto-reinvest divis as I don't trust brokers. They can buy stock and if it goes up call it a trade on their own account and if it goes down book it to you. | yf23_1
29/9/2023 14:35 | We know that H.L. made a large profit in their recent disclosure, very much from the interest earned on their clients' cash accounts. I hope ii follow suit as that will help Abrdn (I hold their shares). Slightly off topic, but I've been concerned about this aspect in respect of Octopus Energy (in particular) who pay nothing to customers with credit balances and are currently not required to ringfence such holdings although my communications with OFGEM on this matter inform me that 20% of the total net credit balance held by a power supplier will need to be ringfenced in the near future. | mcunliffe1
29/9/2023 13:14 | Iweb had reinvested my divi yesterday, banks know about investing customer money to benefit themselves, the delay isn't accidental. | epo001
29/9/2023 12:16 | I’m surprised CWA Aaaa hasn’t told everybody to calm down, calm down like the scoucers lol. | 123trev
29/9/2023 11:48 | Less than 10 seconds to thumb me down incredible. | 123trev
29/9/2023 11:45 | Ffs that was fast | 123trev
29/9/2023 11:44 | A lot of dividend anguish today on the other thread but for once I agree with spud change your broker ffs and if spud aka frank spencer mmmm Betty gives such pearls of wisdom where all lost lol. | 123trev
29/9/2023 11:30 | Every time dividends are paid its the same old brokers who delay and for that matter, the same old posters who moan!! So instead of moaning, change yer broker ffs. ii have dividends in your account by 8am every time (except GLEN) but that's another story. Go on, treat yourselves and as a consequence, avoid that high blood pressure!! spud | spud
29/9/2023 11:07 | Banks are basically rip-off artists par excellence who rely on customers' inertia to increase their profits. Scoble2, if I were you I'd scoot. No doubt Barclays will be painfully slow in executing your request but in the long run it'll be worth it. Ten days to hang on to a divi...... that's definitely taking the Michael. They don't deserve to have your business. | keyno
29/9/2023 10:39 | see the difference ii interactive investor reinvested the GLEN dividend on 25th sept @ 450p Barclays reinvested the Glen dividend on 29th today @ 463p I am disappointed with Barclays the difference is 13p | scoble2
29/9/2023 10:36 | Grandkid's blind trusts at A J Bell paid the LGEN and the ABDN divi's in cash quickly. ii paid LGEN on the day in my SIPP and then re-invested yesterday. | mcunliffe1
29/9/2023 10:30 | The joy is in the anticipation, thebutler. Your broker wants to extend that period of joy. Better to travel in hope, etc. | 1knocker
29/9/2023 10:30 | Always found BARC the poorest and slowest of brokers with a cumbersome site to boot when I was with them. I simply had to leave them in the end as they were pretty well useless. iWeb always the second slowest but just about bearable because of the cheapness of their service | cwa1
29/9/2023 10:24 | It took me AGES to get my LLOY dividend from Barclays last year and had to finish up phoning to find out where it was and they said it could sometimes take up to 2 weeks for dividends to transfer across. Eh? Other providers don't seem to have the same issue and I sometimes wonder if Barclays are allowed to hang on to dividends like this. After all, they're always getting fined for one thing or another (that's why I don't hold Barclays shares). I've banked with them from the beginning and if it wasn't for the easy transfers in and out, etc (even though it might be just as easy if my ISA/SIPP provider was with someone else?) I'd leave Barclays stockbrokers like a shot. PS. I haven't received my LGEN dividend yet either. It winds me up! | thebutler |
