02/10/2023 12:56 | It’s the big picture Ron that’s what you concentrate on how many times have I pointed out the obvious and yet get met with muppets and when you get proved correct the muppets still pretend they’re great and the earth is flat and you idiots that think it’s a slight oval shape need your head testing and how dare you say Santa and the tooth fairy aren’t real it’s all about illusion and delusion. The thing is Ron you have to make more than you turn into beer they can’t complain if they get everything they want the only thing I have to worry about is spencer that tanned muscle bound Adonis at the gym lol. | 123trev
02/10/2023 12:42 | I've just moved my SIPP from AJ Bell to II. £750 cash for doing so and now free regular investing and £3.99 per normal transaction. If you trade once a month you win! | rongetsrich
02/10/2023 12:39 | Sub 200 would be an absolute dream!! I have cash not for investing, but that would indeed prove difficult to ignore!! | rongetsrich
02/10/2023 12:37 | I have a very strong conviction that these will be sub £2 at some point very soon with the only hope a desperate rally that I will sell into but I fear I missed that boat. | 123trev
02/10/2023 12:34 | Yes, I've just swapped broker, AJ Bell to II and the AV and LGEN divis are going to AJ, who will eventually send them on.Gives me some thinking time. She'd cane me if I turned profits into beer, so I just need to work out where next. | rongetsrich
02/10/2023 12:22 | macca :-) I understand the MCunliffe1 bit seems like Mc or MC whatever. But it's Mike really. I do see the irony of Abrdn and ii and my biggest holding in my SIPP is Phoenix who own Standard Life who cheesed me off so much I moved. But, sentiment shouldn't feature in investment. Now, ii charges me £12.99 a month now I'm out of the first six months free promotion. So, on £156 a year I pay slightly more than you at A J Bell. However, I received £395 interest on the cash balance in the SIPP for September. The balance started Sep. with £135k and ended with £120k after some investments were made. They pay monthly and it's tiered at 2.75% on first 10k cash, 3.5% on next £90k and 4% on all above £100k. £3.99 UK share trading fee. £9.99 for foreign shares. I have three A J Bell blind trusts for my grandkids and I believe their trading charge is higher but the monthly fee is quite small as the 'pots' are themselves quite small. | mcunliffe1
02/10/2023 12:22 | Mainly all cash Ron but you have some idea of my holdings! I foolishly kept hold of these because my average is so bloody good and the dividends buy a tremendous amount of beer. | 123trev
02/10/2023 12:15 | Why all the thumbs down on the curve ball post my thick remedial blue friends! The Petra dollar is coming under attack big implications are a given when all credibility is failing fast what affects world markets affects L&G the only hope is a pump before a dump and not taking any notice of a blue chump. Nero played his fiddle as Rome burned and on the clever thread they talked dividends? | 123trev
02/10/2023 12:10 | Same here with II, always have the divi in on the day issued. My other account Lloyds, not normally on the day but always first thing the next business day. I see no reason for anyone to put up with the nonsense regards Barc deplayed divi payment. | drectly
02/10/2023 12:06 | I had a few fleas appear at the weekend. I'm kind of chuffed as it means they've noticed me, yet they're too shy to explain their authority! You holding cash this time? | rongetsrich
02/10/2023 11:54 | Why the thumbs down my anal friends they can buy cheaper shares win win lol. I imagine you’re panicking a bit those blue sphincter muscles twitching where’s the share price going! Why did he have to drag up the past! | 123trev
02/10/2023 11:44 | Yes, macca, I remember you mentioning II which is ironically owned by your least loved holding ABDN. II also seem to be predominately advertised when googling investment providers. I've also had issues with the Barclays website which randomly throws me off when I toddle between certain web pages. I have both a SIPP (held via A J Bell) and ISA with Barclays. The SIPP charges are £150 annually to AJ Bell and a tenth of a percent pa on the value of my portfolio (also same with ISA) so not sure how that compares with other providers. | thebutler
02/10/2023 11:39 | I notice some still haven’t received their dividend yet from some brokers although a bit of an outrage it’s probably a blessing in this market lol. | 123trev
02/10/2023 11:28 | That's ridiculous in this day and age (Barclays). | skinny
02/10/2023 11:22 | Spt on, ahhar. | 1knocker
02/10/2023 11:18 | Has anyone with Barclays had their LGEN dividend yet? No, still waiting and I've just checked a moment ago! | chandrasekharslimit
02/10/2023 11:10 | I can highly recommend Int. Investor thebutler. I have a SIPP with them. Unsure if you have a SIPP or ISA or trading account with Barclays. My LGEN div landed into ii on 26th and was auto reinvested on 28th. I was cheesed-off with Standard Life and their poor systems when my personal pension was with them so I moved. | mcunliffe1
02/10/2023 11:08 | Barclays were the same about 20 years ago when I left them for pastures new for that very reason(amongst others TBF). So it seems like an ingrained issue that's unlikely to change any time soon... | cwa1
02/10/2023 11:06 | I use IG Index and iWEB, both are very prompt payers - IG almost always early on the actual payment day (I have share dealing, ISA and SIPP accounts). iWEB usually on the day, but don't credit ISA accounts until after close on payment day. | woodhawk
02/10/2023 10:58 | eurofox, I am still awaiting my LGEN dividend from Barclays, as well as my ABDN dividend, both of which had a payment date of 26/9. I'm getting thoroughly cheesed off with Barclays, and I can imagine quite a few other customers will be phoning them asking where the dividend is. Then they'll wonder why customers will ditch them, I am myself now in the process of looking elsewhere. | thebutler
02/10/2023 10:45 | zac0: I don't see any reason not to reinvest in the dividend paying company immediately the dividend is received provided you're happy to do so. I never do this automatically, one reason being that the originating share may not be the optimum choice for divi reinvestment at that point. It's particularly relevant for a diversified port like mine because other shares in it may be more attractive. My view is that the originating share has to compete with all my other holdings for the divi cash. I'm just an income investor but this would be valid for growth players too. Another reason is balance. I don't want to automatically add to a share that may be already seriously overweight so I'd usually seek to add to underweight holdings with divi cash, provided they are sufficiently attractive. | anhar
02/10/2023 10:36 | Has anyone with Barclays had their LGEN dividend yet? | eurofox
01/10/2023 08:40 | A massive curve ball is coming our way and nobody is taking much notice at the minute but it has major implications around the world and will add considerable stress to already fragile markets only a few months to go. It could be that recent talk around interest rates at 7% from the likes of Jamie Dimon are a warning of the possible outcomes and he would probably no. | 123trev
01/10/2023 06:37 | Legal & General (LSE:LGEN) is among the highest yielding dividend stocks on the FTSE 100. The insurer actually has a dividend yield of 8.7%. Its surpassed only by two companies on the index. So, why am I sure this is the safest 8% dividend stock on the index? Let’s take a closer look. Coverage Dividend coverage is a financial metric used to assess a company’s ability to pay dividends to its shareholders while maintaining financial stability and meeting its other financial obligations. It is typically expressed as a ratio. And this is often referred to as the dividend coverage ratio. We can do this calculation ourselves by dividing a company’s earnings by the total dividends it plans to distribute to shareholders. In 2022, Legal & General’s dividend coverage ratio was two times, indicating that the company generated twice as much earnings or cash flow as needed to cover its dividend payments to shareholders. This robust dividend coverage ratio reflects the company’s financial strength and its ability to comfortably sustain its dividend policy. It also suggests that Legal & General had a healthy buffer to absorb unexpected financial challenges or economic fluctuations while continuing to provide consistent dividends to its investors. Performance Despite a challenging macroeconomic environment and contrary to the falling share price, Legal & General’s performance has demonstrated impressive stability. Operating profit in the first half reached £941m, only slightly below the previous year’s £958m. Furthermore, the insurance giant highlighted its progress towards achieving its five-year objectives of generating £8bn-£9bn in capital by 2024. To date, Legal & General has already generated £5.9bn. In the results presentation, the board also noted a net surplus generation over dividends of £600m. This was in addition to new business deferred profits totalling £600m. Moreover, during the period, Legal & General’s Solvency II coverage ratio increased from 212% to 230% year on year. This is a critical gauge of financial strength in the insurance sector. | the grumpy old men
30/9/2023 15:05 | ". . . simply can’t understand the rationale of those that do . . ." I don't see any reason not to reinvest in the dividend paying company immediately the dividend is received provided you're happy to do so. | zac0_4 |
