Books look better than expected actually with just £1M down as intangibles/goodwill.
SP well below NAV now
Remember still made a profit in H1

Who knows, now we are being valued purely at the
Singapoe building value.

Think on though if this rises 20% it reaches the dizzy heights of 5.8p which for most shareholders will still be a massive loss.....

To be fair when it gets low enough I anticipate he might make a bid at a slight premium.
When was last time he bought any? - he has to leave it a year otherwise any bid would have to be much higher than today's price.

Still made a profit in H1 of ~ £4M. I make full year EPS close to 1p. That makes the shares trading at a P/E of just FIVE. Also share price is below NAV.

do people go out and buy their products because of the name or because they like their designs ?

Yes I feel it is a very good move, hotels and tea rooms.

I was told by a lecturer in 1994 that the
UK will be a museum eventually with an explosion in
hotels and visitors from China and India, due to new
wealth.

O

The future for all retail is the internet, store
closures for all retailers will continue (
in my honest opinion ) as you comment proves.

The figures have not been good, the dividend has been cut
and now stopped, but they bought a Singapore building in
June 2015 for £31m which they have not done anything with
( we are led to believe ),
but used cash and put debt on the balance sheet needed for the purchase.
The chairman has gone through a long divorce, the situation is such a shame.
===================================================

Now we have some decent non executives, the fashion side is
picking up along with the online, new sales lines have been
set up in China, the Asia side is being taken in house in
October 2018, the hotel chain is being lined up for expansion
along with tea rooms and kitchens etc etc. We have just
put Halpern in charge of PR, daughter of retail legend Sir Ralph Halpern.
===========================================

I hope that helps, such a real shame as this was one of my most
promising stocks in July 2015, cash in the bank, big profits,
handsome dividend and a 35p share price, dyor, dyor and
guess what dyor.

Looks like another is following aly's idea.

-----------------

Legoland is set to open its first theme park in China as owner Merlin Entertainments looks to exploit a rise in visitors by building more hotels.

He is no retail man, property and hotels is his game
with mui. Maybe the new PR company Halpern can get a
few ideas from Sir Ralph, or the new well connected
fashion lady non executive, dyor.

I know what you mean, I too don't really like the control element.
I've only been a holder since the share price crossed 6p downwards.
It's a price where I'm feeling comfortable about the risk-reward ratio.

If he takes it private I don't know how much he's going to pay, your guess is as good as mine.

No ! I was interested at 20p before I did my research.
The control element mentioned on here did for me.

If he takes this private - what price would he have to pay?

We think differently, my opinion differs from yours. You won't convince me, I will not convince you.

You're asking if I bought LA shares? Yes, I did and will add if it goes down further and nothing has changed for the worst.
If things turn out wrong for me, well that's all in the game. I can afford it.

Are you a holder?

You say the lack of cash was the reason - and I explained the lack of cash - but they paid a divi after they bought the building - then all they needed was a "bad" set of results - with the write down on a property they did not need being absolutely avoidable - you can say they engineered the situation themselves - whether or not that was just an accident.

Its not irrelevant - do you think that every company operates in a vacuum ?
That no two sets of directors take the same approach?

Have you actually bought some of these shares?
