Ironically Duane and Morris are one of the most well
regarded in International M & A, they are based in Singapore.

Singapore and M&A, surely something is about to
happen here, the other appointment last month
was part of MUI.

If they can get a good price for the Singapore then ALY should be worth or sold for 150m minimum

They valued the Singapore property at around £25m,
I believe rns last year, so all LA valued at £15m

It has had the effect of removing all of the cash from the balance sheet whilst not putting it to work generating profit.

The property was last referred to by RNS (if I remember correctly) as having declined in value.

The share price seems to have crashed significantly since they spent all the cash.

Dividends suspended (?I think so I cant be sure)

So if anyone in the world wanted to take this private how much would it cost?

Or wait a little longer and pay less?

I do not know if they trying to sell it.

What purpose was that to ruin the balance sheet?

srp is that they "Ought" to sell or they are actively trying to sell?

Always thought it was bought for another purpose and that has not been accomplished yet

They bought a Singapore building in July 2015.

Don't understand what you are saying this is a great opportunity for Laura Ashley now to capitalise in a growing market!

They want to sell that Singapore property on the books for
£26m I believe as soon as possible. The Singapore property
sector had a good year last year and a decent 2018 has been
spoken about I have been told, dyor. Then we could move
forward in my opinion.

How much turnover will be lost and at what cost to the business?

Who covers the cost of those closures?

That was poorly written
"Laura Ashley Holdings plc and Aeon are to terminate, on 17 September 2018, their Master License Agreement"

That bit is clear enough
Then I dont think they meant to say that that agreement -
which grants Laura Ashley Japan the right to own and operate retail stores as well as the right to license the Brand in approved territories."

But that by tearing up the agreement the rights to own the brand etc. will revert to LAH.

So they take back control of their own sales.

But at this stage it is bad news - why ? "The Laura Ashley Japan Co Ltd stores will close as of 17 September 2018"

So they will close.

Next question why terminate the agreement ?

Because the stores are not profitable?
At what cost do you terminate an agreement?

They say that "many loyal Laura Ashley customers " - is that enough to make a profit ? will continue to be served - but they don't say how.

Why not just take over running the stores if they are profitable ?

Seems to me its all just words - but the action so far is clear they are shutting the shops.
